I picked this one up in the UK - where there are plenty of book bargains, so yes, I probably need to search out later ones. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep my eyes open.

I seem to acquire books faster than I can read them, especially when travelling, adding to the 3 monthly car magazines on subscription, down from the previous 6. I'm a year behind with them.

Guy features regularly on Choice TV. His doco on China was very down to earth and interesting. The program where he visits his extended family in Latvia is also a good watch.

His unusual presentation manner and lack of fear in some respects may be due to him having Aspergers syndrome. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Martin

I've met him a couple of times and he's in person just as he is on film. down to earth, keen to look at any interesting garage or workshop, and great to have a beer with, though it's usually tea for him. He doesn't hold back on saying what he thinks, and is very personable. His dad is a cool dude also. If you wanted to be critical, he is very self-focussed, and would be a nightmare to manage. Have a read of 'when you dead, you dead'.

Just wish he spoke English.

The Linconshire accent takes a bit of carefull listening to for kiwis , Ok for poms

he is to England on the same par as Paul mc Cartney , the Queen, Julie Andrews, Mick Jagger and Hitchcock , to name a few. Its like he's a honorary statesman. he must not be defamed or ill said of him or there will be trouble

Go on it’s a beautiful accent.

Have you read "Lady Chatterley's Lover?" If you think listening to a Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire accent is tough, reading it is ten times worse.

Just because most people are more familiar with say a London, Liverpool, Geordie, Brummie or Yorkshire accent on TV, a Lincolnshire accent might seem a bit tough.

But as any true Brit knows, the English accent may change in as little as 25 miles.

Areet midduck? Gorrit nah?

'Yo bro!' might be the Kiwi response - which is just as bad.

Sounds like they are referring to Nascar racer Cale Yarborough to my ears

#23- I've got early volumes of Samuel Pepys; I'm still trying to decipher early printed English!

Apparently, the English language has more words than any other, so by the time you factor in the various accents, must be a nightmare for foreigners.

A pet gripe of mine - public announcements at places like airports where English is the local language, yet they use someone where English is obviously their second language. What compounds it is the appalling quality of many sound systems; the speaker rabbits on so quickly, that it is a wonder anyone understands it, let alone those of us where the hearing isn't what it once was. (Too much exposure to trackside open exhausts before ear defenders were the norm.)

your a lucky man pete ! . i'd be over the moon to have a yak with him, I think he'd be pretty wrapped with an engine project and development we did a few years ago, . and an opinion on a rotary piston engine design

Where's the Rowan Atkinson take on a railway station announcement?

Love watching his series, on Choice TV.

He was very quiet in the paddock after his narrow escape in this years TT.
Went to change down, found a box full of neutrals, and was down the road in the blink of an eye.
When interviewed later he was well aware of how lucky he'd been.

He wasnt the only rider to struggle on the new fireblades

barrie2, Sep 24, 11:48pm
He is, like many TT racers, one brave dude. To ride at those speeds on ordinary roads, no lengthy run offs, just dry stone walls and telegraph poles.
He lacks a bit on the accent though, Bradford accent before being mingled with Urdu was the best. lol

His miss’s is pretty hot as well.

John McGuinness has said himself Rossi could win a TT race. I think Rossi could as well. after all he not too bad in a rally car (or a f1 car for that matter). Why would Rossi risk a TT race. he’s worth $140 million and has a lifestyle we only dream about. The TT riders really are a different breed of racer and if they did 18rounds of road racing a year like they do in motogp I doubt they would be around for very long. Rossi has done 20 years in Gp’s and currently 2nd in the 2018 championship he’s no show pony.
