A haters gonna hate but just because a bike has a certain styling it isnt compulsory to use it in that fashion. The scrambler comes as a nice cafe racer if the off road styling isnt your thing. The Scrambler is Ducatis top selling range.
This bikes been around for a few years so Im confused why your undies are in a knot all of a sudden.
Is it just the Ducati got you all upset or do the current similar models from Triumph, BMW, Moto Guzzi, Yamaha also bother you.

whqqsh, Oct 8, 12:03am
yup, the other models are as fake, & no it isn't 'all of a sudden'. What straw broke the camels back is a spotty oick in a bike shop trying to sell me one & authoritatively telling me what a 'scrambler' is. it seems to be whatever the Ducati leaflets tell him it is. But then I suppose many people in many areas are being told 'facts' & blindly believing them (e.g, try buying 1/2" copper pipe in a hardware store these days)

desmodave, Oct 8, 1:38am
Did they not want to trade your 883 in or something . Your probably not the 1st person to be traumatized in a Ducati shop so it's not all bad . You could make contact here and see if they offer any sort of counselling to those seeking to be owners .

perfectly happy with my bike ATM & you're the one that remembers & keeps bringing it up (am I that important to your life?) & I'm not the one that revolves my being & ego around a brand. (oh, thats it, Ive questioned the mighty Duck brand & thats got YOUR panties in a bunch).
But as a matter of fact we are moving rural in a matter of months & was in looking at my options for the type of roads we'll have to travel

When my wife has been having a hard day with our kids or someone difficult to deal with, I tell her about some of these little cock fights I see on here. Usually gets a laugh. The bike fights tend to be even better than the V8 / rotary fights. Thanks gentlemen for the years of free entertainment!

esky-tastic, Oct 8, 2:39am
Sorry but the fact Ducati calls a bike a scrambler ranks about number 783 in my life's concerns.

desmodave, Oct 8, 2:42am
Do you really think i give a shit who rides what . Bringing it up you say , any1 would think your ashamed or embarrassed . Why , i don't know . . Make that call, and get it out of your system . For what its worth not like i give a shit like , if you fit what your riding and like it some of those chunky type tyre's might just be the solution .

desmodave, Oct 8, 2:49am
It's not really a fight when 1s beating themselves up is it . I think it's called self harm now days . The tails of little cocks excites your wife , cool for you . There is a lack of rotary fights , Mr Prawn is getting slack .

whqqsh, Oct 8, 3:59am
you do obviously, you keep mentioning it not me, I just don't hang my hat on a brand. I don't know why someone gets so bitchy when their chosen brand isn't idolised by all others or can't handle the slightest criticism.
I do know guys that are devoted to certain brands & know their chosen brand backwards, it suits their needs (& yes even lifestyle) & they usually sit back quietly in the knowledge of their preference & smile at the thin skinned logo boys

desmodave, Oct 8, 4:04am
Dial 111 when ya need help to get out of that hole your digging .

desmodave, Oct 8, 4:09am
Forget dialing 111 that's just gunna be a waste of good peoples time . what is your criticism ? the brand or the salesman .

mechnificent, Oct 8, 4:11am
Make aside and all that. I don't see how they can call it a scrambler with that front guard.
A bit of sticky clay and that wheel would stop turning and turn into a sled.

oliver6, Oct 8, 4:15am
It can't be the brand !
I have a Ducati 1100 Hypermotard and it is the perfect bike ! ( well nearly )

whqqsh, Oct 8, 6:50am
it is the brand, they called it something it isn't

whqqsh, Oct 8, 6:52am
hehe was wondering how long before the sidekick dropped in. however it might as well be called a ute for all the good it is as a scrambler.

gusthe1, Oct 8, 7:27am
Ive just finished giving my old Triumph a polish. Its a Triumph Tiger. Perhaps I should have just thrown it a slab of meat.

yz490, Oct 8, 7:49am
http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/triumph-scrambler.141616/ There's a good power shot of something different just to stir the pot, if the link works. Also one more for good luck. http://thebikeshed.cc/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/XSR700-Yard-Build-Rough-Crafts-action-4.jpg

BSA too.

BSA on the come back with new trail bikes or as they are now termed, dual purpose but supposedly based on scramblers.

Just like most of the ute adds that's done on a flat bitta gravel to make it look good, I could (well someone could) do that a fully fledged road bike if one was silly enough to. Geez they do that on Harleys at rallies. Until said scrambler is entered in a motocross and done a few proper laps I do kinda agree with whqqsh. Thats what I think when I here the word scrambler anyway, an old terminology though.
Its almost like when they call cars etc "limited" Limited to what, 7 million?

friendly_prawn, Oct 8, 8:07am
My rotary is bigger than your little thingy. :-)

yz490, Oct 8, 8:24am
Could get my old 500 Matchy [hot trail bike lol] more sideways than that up the Pahiatua track in the metal [well--in 1964] till the footrest took the side out of a Vanguard [model after the beetle back] plus pushed the bumper into the drivers side front wheel. Bloody expensive that was, on apprentice wages. Actualy i don't think another car came along all the time we were there straightening the car for the sunday driving couple to carry on. Put the back wheel back into the axle slots of the Matchy & straightened the right footrest then carried on. Mangles the left rear shock of my mates B33 who hit the other side bumper. Kids eh! .

There are specialized motorcycles for a variety of off-road motorcycle sports:

Motocross — Such bikes (once called "scramblers") are raced on short, closed off-road tracks with a variety of obstacles. The motorcycles have a small fuel tank for lightness and compactness. Long-travel suspension allows riders to take jumps at high speed. Motocross engines are usually single-cylinder two-stroke or four-stroke units, which vary in size from 50cc up to about 650cc. Motocross sidecar outfits have bigger engines, usually four-stroke and often twin-cylinder. Motocross bikes are also used in freestyle motocross.
Enduro — A modified and road-legal motocross bike, having the addition of a horn, lights, effective silencing and a number plate. Enduro riders compete over a longer course (which may include roads); and an enduro event may last between one day and six days (such as the International Six Days Enduro). Some enduro events (known as "multi-lappers") are held on rather shorter circuits, not unlike scramble tracks. "Multilappers" are especially popular with novice riders.
Rally raid, or "rallies" — A special type of enduro bike with a significantly larger fuel tank for very long distance racing, typically through deserts (e.g. Paris-Dakar rally). Engine capacities tend to be larger, usually between 450 cc and 750 cc.
Trail — A trail bike is a dual-purpose bike, made for on-road and recreational off-road riding. A trail bike may resemble an enduro bike, but since a trail bike is not intended to be used for competition, it may be less rugged, and equipped with dual-purpose tires and with more road legal equipment, such as indicators, mirrors and extra instruments.
Trials — Trials riding is a specialized form of off-road competition testing balancing skills and precision rather than speed. For a trials bike, low weight and crisp throttle response power are the priorities, so trials bikes tend to have a small (125 cc to 300 cc) engine, with two-strokes being common. During the trial, the rider stands on the footpegs, so a trials bike will have only a vestigial seat, or no seat at all.[31] Fuel tanks are very small, giving a very limited range.
Track racing — High-speed oval racing, typically with no brakes, nor rear suspension. The engines, fuelled by methanol, are long-stroke four-stroke singles, such as JAP and Jawa. They have at most two gears. Some types, such as speedway, and grass-track bikes, are designed to take left turns only.

Interesting descriptions.
I have a Sherco 4 stroke trials bike, 320cc. It is a bit brutal compared with the 175 to 250 2 strokes I rode in the past.

Many years ago I went from Jawa to Yamaha 125YZ. Spectacular, but highly reliable.

sgrants, Oct 9, 2:25am
Yeah Nah It's not the "Brand" cos BMW Moto Guzzi I think even HD are doing it among a $h1t load of others! My R Nine T is a cafe style bike but there is no way anyone could go "Scrambling" on a R Nine T scrambler (unless you did some real "Scrambler" mods, Tires suspention etc)it's just marketing bollocks!
