If you have a search on youtube you should come across a few after market exhaust systems that will give it a bit more bark . GPR make some nice mufflers . Have fun .

Just buy it. Ridden with lady down here in Nelson who loves hers. She tried two wheels but just didn't get condiment and happy, so is now on second can am having upgraded.
Just don't worry about negative comments, proper bikers respect anyone with a helmet and handlebars.
Left field idea. You could take a cheaper dip with the Yamaha tricity, it still leans like a 2 wheeler but has two front wheels for balance. Just a thought.

Are you sure about the rego fees as a CanAm is classified as a LE2 (Motorcycle)?

noodleman4, Sep 6, 5:58am
must be ? cause you only need a car licence to ride/drive it

None of the personal negative comments have put me off. I prefer to judge things for myself but also am willing to listen to constructive advice. I have a friend who has one ( also has a two wheeler) and he has offered to come out and let me have a spin on his before deciding to purchase one. Due to an injury I've had to put this on hold but will still pursue the possibility of owning one.

Buy now , heal later . The buzz of ownership will get all those endorphin's working proper and may well speed up the healing process .

kam04, Sep 6, 9:24pm
Lol ! Like your quick heal method. The trouble is I'd be tempted to ride it before it would be advisable to. The temporary hold up hasn't stopped me from looking.

I read a lot of forum feedback and You tube info. Spoke to the mechanics about servicing and costs, insurance $400.00pa. Not bike reg, car. Today I have purchased, very excited, and looking forward to wind in hair, 3 wheels, 4 speakers, and lotsa chrome and luggage room. The seats are so comfy, like a couch, great suspension, I'm going manual although test rode a semi. None left, manual will be fine. There is a $3500.00 disc on the remaining 2017 models plus the extended 5 year warranty. I can't hardly wait. lol.

esky-tastic, Sep 7, 2:59am
Great, keep us posted on how you find it.

berg, Sep 7, 5:31am
Awesome stuff jusluckee. You must have brought a touring version?

berg, Sep 7, 6:56am
Ever ridden one? Ever met somebody who's disability or age means they cannot handle a 1000cc 2 wheeler but still want wind in the hair?

jusluckee, Sep 7, 8:21am
Hi. I bought the Spyder RT, should have arrived by the time I get back from Chch in about a week. Am very excited and a bit scared as have never owned something brand new before Lol. Ignore the sad, jealous , losers whos comments aren't worth diddly Doo. Thanks to those who are positive and encouraging. I get some lessons as well to build confidence and skills. Planning a tour already in summer after my season of work. Yippee!

Brilliant; from a fellow biker all I can say keep the sunny side up and just enjoy.

berg, Sep 7, 3:06pm
Don't stress too much lol. My old man brought his first one in Auckland, having never ridden one, bused up and rode back to Blenheim. Said he was getting the hang of it by Hamilton lol.

jusluckee, Sep 7, 8:31pm
Lol, a brave man long trip. Has he still got it and riding?

berg, Sep 8, 5:47am
Loved it so much he sold the first one at xmas (RS-S 1000) and brought a new 1300 F3. 77 and he's a big kid at heart lol

desmodave, Sep 8, 6:04am
Adrenaline = long life & good fun . So far so good .

berg, Sep 8, 6:08am
Think he would have loved another big two wheeler but accepted 3 knee replacements and 2 hip replacements called for something different. I've ridden both and must admit that F3 is a whole world of fun to ride

jusluckee, Sep 8, 7:29am
Berg. 77! That is so Kool, good on him. Plenty of grunt in the 1330cc, same as mine. Is his semi or manual?

berg, Sep 8, 3:05pm
He went the semi as it was easier for him

jusluckee, Sep 8, 6:11pm
Yes, would've too, but they only had one left of the RT and it was manual.

May I ask which insurance company did he go with?

This is a general ask for the Thread.

Thanks in advance

berg, Sep 9, 4:45am
Think he went with Kiwibiker? Also try Protecta
