I was simply comparing them to rally drivers,so nothing personal in my book.I know exactly how good they are,but as i said once they have been around a track a few times they know exactly where they are going for the next 30 laps.it's just a mater of refining their technique.you can't tell me driving 280 km down the back straight of Puke is anywhere near as dangerous as driving down a narrow metal road lined with trees at 180km relying on the guy next to you to call the next corner, and for the next 180 km with every corner being different as well as blind, jumping over humps, riding of the snow line and with the chance of having your tire blown away by a rock you misjudged,so in that regard circuit racing is for pussies. Ask Murph how hard it is,he has been involved now for 3 years and the best result he has is a distant 4th.I have watched him in a rally and he certainly doesn't have the confidence he does in a supercar considering he has won Bathhurst 4 times, and i have a lot of respect for Murph. The guys i have the most respect for is superbikes and the control they have in cornering, and they don't have any protection if they lay it over on a fast sweeper.BTW, i have been around Puke so it's nothing to do with play station.

John Surtees?

newtec, they are different skills. No one doubts the skills of a rally driver or motorcyclist.

Although the circuit may well be the same, or appear to be, it isn't always so. Track conditions vary during a race as the fuel load changes and tyres wear, not to mention changing weather conditions.

I remember well a motorsport journalist studying Fangio's cornering throughout a GP. He nipped out and stuck a matchstick in the tarseal (those were the days!) and noted Fangio's car position on every lap. He was just about inch perfect on every lap.

If circuit racing wasn't dangerous, we wouldn't have lost so many drivers during the 50's, 60's and 70's!
