Did he get tired of dragging it on a trailer for 250000km behind a Landrover Disco?

To most of us on this esteemed MB you've already reached the pinnacle (or trajectory?) of meritorious deeds by showing exemplary courage and fortitude when electing to use 'Lada' in your username.

Would a Disco make it to 250,000 km? Would have thought the Lada would have had to finish the journey dragging the Landy.

Probably easily when near new, whereas my 97 v8 with 180k on it? very unlikely, so think you are likely right.

Or you could do the famous Fiat twin cam engine transplant, throw in some coil-overs and go forth and really scare the natives!
I had to choke when he said " it's gone from 35 to 180 hp " . assuming it's a 1608 cc TC Fiat 125 engine , that 180 hp would equate to 112 bhp/lt . no way , my guess is 83 > 88 bhp / lt . ?

I haven't had any experience with the 1.6, but the 2.0 big valve 8v version can be tuned for 180hp reliable HP without much trouble and without a turbo. The 8V came out with around 120hp standard and the 16v about 140hp. There was still plenty of scope left for tuning. The Turbo versions could be around 200hp standard.
