Currently advertising 2 special edition Triton utes. The Beast and the very rugged looking, er, Hunterway? Hint for Mitsubishi - dont name your vehicles after a dog! Especially where tThe Hunterway is way more The Beast.

budgel, Jun 10, 10:05pm
The cheaper of the two seems like good value for a 4x4 ute.

toenail, Jun 10, 10:16pm
Not as bad as Mazda's CX5 ads using Larox as a car salesman. So much so the ads have been pulled.

Do you know what" Pajero" means in spanish speaking countries?Huntaway(Hunterway) is an intelligent, useful working dog. Pajero has been a good seller for years. !

elect70, Jun 10, 10:47pm
Huntaway good name for ute in NZ , beast sounds stupid

tamarillo, Jun 11, 1:54am
Wonder why there's never been a a Hilux bugger edition. Or a Juke Poodle.

db.price, Jun 11, 3:24am
Just to note the article you quote was from 2012!

db.price, Jun 11, 3:30am
Well there is the Warrior edition Navara, the Raptor Ranger. While yes Hunterway is an intelligent dog it remains a dog which when speaking of cars is not a great thing. Perhaps I will wait for next year's Toyota Citrus Hilux.

I wouldn't never go near a Mitsubishi triton ute ever again. Just had a 2014 do its engine at 72,000 kms and Mitsubishi don;t want to know about it. The second owner since new (brought it second hand at 30,000kms) and been looked after. Quoted $27.5k for a new engine or $18.5k for a second hand engine. Vehicle realistically lucky to be worth $23-24k before it blew.

stevo2, Jun 22, 3:51pm
Why do they refuse to repair it when they offer a 5 year warranty and an extra 5 years on the drivetrain when serviced by Mitsubishi?
Its only 4 years old.
What happened?

m16d, Jun 22, 5:53pm
The 5 and 10 year warrantys are not transferable to 2nd owners. only the 3 year one.

db.price, Jun 22, 7:48pm
Yes their amazing warranty they offer has a tonne if exclusions after 3 years. However a 4 year old car that has been regularly serviced and only done that number of KM should not have blown it's engine. I would push Mitsubishi all the way on that.

amyu, Jun 22, 8:01pm
My Triton is a is a woman, she drives really well,120,000 km from new, serviced every 15k
heaps of power, starts first time
will i buy another
NO
Only because Mitsi insist on servicing themselves at great expense

apb243, Jun 25, 10:04pm
Purchased it to provide a work vehicle for an employee, always regularly serviced by the dealer, however employee finished up with us in September last year, vehicle subsequently parked up and driven once a month or so whilst it was on the market. Overlooked its service being overdue in September even though it had been in late July for blowing blue / white smoke. Found cylinder misfiring, engine oil high due to injector seals leaking so they cleaned injector sealing surface & resealed injector (going off repair invoice). I have a feeling the same thing happened again this time around but caused a lot more damage and Mitsubishi pinning it to failure to address the issue by not servicing when it was due.

db.price, Jun 26, 3:17am
Would still be pushing them bigtime. The issues you are talking about are not caused by missing the service. How late was the service done?

They are ducking and diving trying to get out of something they know they have to fix. If no joy from the local dealer then go to the HQ.

keith190, Jun 26, 6:32am
My 2010 triton had a new engine fitted at 100 000km under warranty. It only went in for a service and they said it was one of a line of engines which could give trouble so they would replace it just in case. Amazing warranty. That was 3 years, now at 150km and no problems

oliver6, Jun 27, 8:06am
WOW ! Those prices are unbelievable.
I have a 2004 Triton 2.8 diesel I have had from new.
270,000kms and never missed a beat.
I would have said I will buy another, but your story makes me think twice.

the-lada-dude, Jun 27, 5:47pm
So how many K's on the engine since the injector fault ?

Why is the engine buggered . is this a similar fault ?

If I were you, get onto a Mitsi car owners site, . you'll be amazed at the good info that pops up

I have a feeling that the engine may have suffered more damage with the initial cause of. ' cylinder misfiring, engine oil high due to injector seals leaking ' " ENGINE OIL HIGH "

From what you say, . I think you have a bloody good reason to sick the problem up their backside

Do some homework,

purplegoat, Jun 28, 4:21am
Really ? So because of one unsubstantiated story on social media you are considered walking away from a brand that you have been very happy with previously . personally I prefer to do a bit more research than that
And I hate to break it to ya but every single vehicle on this planet would have a similar story on social media .

oliver6, Jun 28, 4:29am
I realise all that. But I would certainly do a bit more homework now than I would have before I read that.
Because my Triton has performed well, I would have just bought a new one with confidence.

kdcentralni, Jun 28, 6:30am
I’d take Mitsubishi nz to court you will win under the consumer guarantees act it’s unrealistic to say it’s on you at that age and mileage.

apb243, Jun 28, 6:56am
Hi all, I'm genuinely just telling my story on here and considering my next course of action. According, to the dealer they have been dealing with Mitsubishi head office and that is their position. The service was due in September 2017 but had just been in for that previously mentioned issue in late July. Since September it had been parked up and drive once or twice a month since then for a maximum of 60-70kms at any one time.

andrewcg53, Jun 28, 9:24am
Well I just hit a cow at 100km/h in my Triton 2007 and I was able to walk away
The triton is more than likely a write off and yes I will buy another one.

marte, Jun 28, 1:01pm
Bighorn.
Yep, I said it. A 4WD for little men

db.price, Jun 28, 7:28pm
Start with a claim to the LMVD and if that doesn't get you somewhere then it us small claims court. They are using a single missed service to dodge their responsibility under the CGA.

There is always Fair Go.
