Mid 2000's vehicle. Engine went pop. No external oil or water leaks.
Replacement engine fitted. Being test driven by the mechanic there was a massive oil leak (which was found to be transmission oil ) and the vehicle lost all drive.
Deliberately being vague re make /model
What do you think happened based on the information provided ?

exwesty, Jan 6, 2:18am
Diff lock or gearbox failure.

lakeview3, Jan 6, 2:18am
The person who put the replacement engine in didn’t reconnect transmission properly? Didn’t tighten something or forgot to put in a washer/seal?

Haha but what would I know I know nothing about cars lol!

bigfatmat1, Jan 6, 2:29am
Damaged torque converter seal refitting trans forgot to reconnect cooler lines

sw20, Jan 6, 2:41am
Yet here you are.

mechnificent, Jan 6, 2:41am
Are you wanting guesses about the original engine, or the trans ?

It seems too obvious what happened to the trans.

toyboy3, Jan 6, 2:51am
Didn’t have the torque converter oil pump drive aligned when installing the engine

differentthings, Jan 6, 3:04am
can be a number of things. Could be something simple like a loose cooler line or something major like damaged front bush in the pump. Without knowing where it is leaking from it can be only guess work. FWD or RWD for starters, was the trans removed with the motors etc

franc123, Jan 6, 3:22am
Come clean, you had a serious lapse of judgement and retailed a Mk5 Golf didn't you? Would need to know where the trans oil leak was from. Assuming its auto probably a cockup installing the converter or some issue with the cooler or lines if it's only occurred since the engine change over.

So why comment?

richynuts, Jan 6, 4:19am
good money thrown after bad.

lakeview3, Jan 6, 4:39am
i know!

lakeview3, Jan 6, 4:40am
Well I hope OP comes back to tell us what the issue was. wouldn’t it be funny if I was right?!

marte, Jan 6, 4:51am
I would guess that seal, though some Audi VAG had a recall on the plate that holds that seal, it's O ring was wrong.

marte, Jan 6, 4:55am
Minimum info for car questions is,
Make,
Model & version
Year,
Engine size &
Engine model.
Gearbox version
& What's been messed about with on it, and repair history.

mechnificent, Jan 6, 5:00am
Did the torque converter get left on the trans when the motor was pulled ?

mechnificent, Jan 6, 5:01am
I'm thinking the "popped" motor is part of the question. What happened to that.

mechnificent, Jan 6, 5:06am
Oil leaks are simple and easy to figure. Surely Kaz Isn't asking us that .

poppy62, Jan 6, 5:22am
You wish!. Kaz is being purposely deceptive because it's a Toyota or Mazda in question. Dried egg is real hard to get off especially when on faces. Well that's an engine and a trans, what's next? Franc mate! Have you noticed how the Toyota boys are out in force on this thread all hoping "like you" it's a Golf! Gufaw! snort, snort!

clark20, Jan 6, 5:23am
Doing burnouts and motor went just before gearbox

franc123, Jan 6, 5:34am
I've no idea what you are talking about. Keep biting though it's always amusing.

exwesty, Jan 6, 5:56am
What happened.

The car dealer said bring it in and we'll take a look.
The dealer said crap, i need to replace the motor.
Motor replaced, and on test and failed.
Car dealer said @#$& &*^%#$ $%^#$@#@ (*^%$@

gph1961, Jan 6, 5:56am
yup,hilarious

serf407, Jan 6, 6:32am
Someone did a or tried to do a burnout or donuts with a vehicle on hot tar seal that they should not have.

lakeview3, Jan 6, 8:48am
I think what happened is that OP started a thread, bailed, and left everyone hanging in suspense.
