Ya know I didn't want to stir up a hornets nest. But given what did happen once the boss was back I would say --yea they nicked the seal

I was wanting to ask that stupid question too. But I then thought the colour would be more important.
Some of us would like to stop guessing.

My opinion. Carrying out such work and there's oil pissing out = pull it apart and see whats happened.
Don't pussy-foot around, duck for cover and make the customer wait.
Don't expect the customer to give the green light. Do it, and sort it out later.
That garage/owner needs the ruff end of a pineapple inserted.
If I take it that he waived the excess. He needs to front up somewhere for the days lost.

A few years ago my ford ranger needed the clutch fixed .After i got it back I noticed oil everywhere on the ground so took it back to the ford agents. It looked like when they took the gearbox off they dropped it and cracked the case .The repair was some type of glue in the crack and then they wanted to charge for that plus more oil. They were then soon told a few facts about their repair after i showed them some photos I took.

I work on the theory that the ( torque convertor) seals so cheap, just replace it every time.
Seals never seem to work as well once they have been disturbed.

( Waiting for 'seal jokes' )

That's just a case of "Don't make your problem my problem."
There should never have been a delay in pulling it apart again.
