i don't really believe in them because my brother is a cop and he told me that he can turn his radar on and off to beat the detectors, he turns his on at the last minute just before you see him and BAM, he got you, he laughs at people that have one, they cant believe it. Lesson to be learnt, just don't speed

Bel or valentine. People on here will tell you one is better than the other,both ways. Both are very good radars. Bel has a few models valentine have one. Get one and you will be surprised how far it gets cops. The person talking about the cop turning the radar on and off is correct, they can catch you out that way, BUT the range on the radars is very good and usually the detector will beep and turn off. Here's a thought.I think I heard somewhere the average fine (remembering there are higher ones as well) being paid by NZ drivers for radar detected speeding is $80.Why not pay his first 15 fines for him and thus spend the same amount as you would to buy a radar detector!Just a thought.

I have a Escort and a Bell STIand to be honest i like the Escort better,not sure why but i do,the Escort is certainly better on the bike [ louder ear piece ].distance wise they both pick up the cops about the same. Even if the cops do use their radar only when they see you you do have time to scrub off speed.mine has paid for it self 1000 times over,I'm not a ridiculous speeder but do travel over the limit conditions pending,i would travel over 2000ksa week,.don't listen to the anti speed twats,in there wonderful little world they would have us all traveling round like bloody sheep

If the speed limits were appropriate or the police has appropriate leaniency we would all be better off. Eg napier to palmy is a very long straight and empty road at night. 100k is just too slow

If your caught three times or so speeding, you will lose your licence because of demerits, so dumb post. My Uniden saves me all the time and has paid for it self numerous times over.
