did anone notice how slow that lap was 2.12 they qualify 2.07 now. so that means a current v8 would lap godzilla 3 times at the next bathurst lol

they might qualify at that lap time but I bet they do not race at near that lap time.

For a car that's 20 years newer, and not based on a production car. that's not a big difference.

Yet i know some VE owners still having issues, 200k , 2nd chain required.
If Timing belts are such a bad idea, why do most of the worlds OEMs fit them! Is it because they are quieter, more fuel efficent, dont stretch like chains and are therefore more accurate, dont require lubrication, weigh less and are more cost effective at build level than chains!
I will let you into a little saying that is commonly used by Power Transmission engineers: Belts dont break themselves. Any premature failure is caused by a mechanical failure (seized or worn component), a seal failure (oil damaging the belt), lack of tension or poor design.

The Bathurst 1000 is STILL one of the world's great races, full of action, 650bhp cars, fantastic track, epic 200kph oversteer on nearly every lap, near on 300kph on Conrod straight (often side by side), brake locks, rollovers, fuel fires, stunning in car footage, close racing, real drivers (Murphy, Ingall, Lowndes etc),and a real sense of speed - if it doesn't fire you up you've got no petrol in your veins.
i say bring back the gtr, oh wait they are too fast.

Actually they aren't.
The Donut King GTR got the rape put on it in the last open meeting at Bathurst, lagging behind everyone then failing to finish at all. The SC cars would make mincemeat out of the GTR in any form, its nowhere near powerful enough and looks pretty flimsy.
Anyway, are you people stupid! The SC series is regulated motoring, you can't just "bring back" something.
You want to see your GTR racing it might be in GT500 or some club day stuff in Taumaranui or Opotiki etc (where it belongs),
I never did say that, you just twisted it for your liking. What I did say was not every holden is truly aussie engineered and built like you claimed to have said in another thread about been a proud holden owner. So just to make your day Holden is notall "100%" engineered in oz, we all know what other engines they use in "some" models. Note the 100% brackets and "some".
But yes Holden is tops like a teenager with his addictions ay.
what was the weight the R32 ran at, yet still won !
what was the engin restricted by - knobbling the Turbo power - yet still won !
a 10 year younger - purpose built race car with less weight & more power managed to lap faster. who would have imagined . . . . . .

just plain LOL
so a Commodore would lap the Ring under 7:30 as well would it !
given parity weight & power limits, the superior handeling car would win - deny that & your more blind & stupid than you let on

I didn't, I don't recall saying it.It is also johnf_456 not john. I also speak for people here as well and yes we know you are a Holden boy.

Which I still stand by the fact not all Holden are truely Australian Engineered, when yes there is other mixtures in the bunch. But don't take as a bad thing just saying its not all australian. I stand by post 93 on this thread. As some get excited at the thought of 100% australian, when its not.

No you originally siad Holden never used their own engines and rattled off ones they have imported and/or built up, only to be corrected by numerous people myself included. I specifically remember as I though, farrrk, this guy has his head up his arse, old johnny boy.

Okay that was a mistake but I still stand by the comment that is there now and the fact its not, considering the use of rb engines and the likes in the older days. Don't get me wrong I don't hate on holden but just saying they are not all truly aussie engineered and built for "ALL" models. They are also over rated.
I may of been meaning in the older holden on certain ones but was not clear enough, in the spur of the moment.
