you mean when the japs got the rulebook and designed a car around it, ruining Group A for everyone (although the europeans and their love of cheating also helped)

cheating europeans and the japs building quick carsdosnt really bother me it was still a better watch than the crap they give us now.Even Murph dosnt complain as loud now
vivac,

Isnt that the point of racing, going asfar as the rules will allow!
bill-robinson,

No, just over the rules and see if you get caught. This is based on the statement "no such thing as cheating, only getting caught." Bill

hydraline,

Best thing they could ever do was ban the gooks and other non aussie manufacturers.Real men (and real shielas) have holdens and fords with maybe a few mopars.

Pity that Holden and Ford have to use American designed and built engines.not that the redneck orstralians would realise though.

I had forgotten how open it was, only barriers on corners, even down the straight is open into fields etc. Scary stuff.

A good quote from a youtube viewer, "You narrow minded dickhead! The days when the jags, BMW's Nissan Skylines etc were the best days that the ATCC has ever seen and sadly because the Holden?

A good quote, but wrong. There was no Aussie Ford V8 in the Group A era, only the American Ford V8 Mustang driven by Dick Johnson before he moved to the all mighty Sierra. Then again don't let bullshit get in the way of a good story.

Too bad the 304/308 was an ALL AUSSIE designed and built engine aye dickhead.

Far from the truth. Just bad timing that the GTR came into group A as as the whole category was in decline world wide due to increased costs. Keep believing the GTR killed Group A racing if it makes ya feel better though.
skully13,
Jun 20, 12:42pm
Get rid of the safety car like they did back then, and that would make it a better race. None of this 10-20 lap sprints to the finish. Don't forget how much Aussie stuff was in the GTR or the Sierra that made them so dominant.
skully13,
Jun 20, 12:44pm
Even Japan dropped the Group A formula before Australia.
peejeles,
Jun 20, 12:57pm
except thats not run in current V8 supercars. the holdens run a 5 liter chevrolet small block

Huh, I enjoy the aus v8s. Yeah there's plenty of classes out there with more mixed fields, I enjoy those too. People who rule something out just because it's not their favourite miss out on some great stuff. Seems some people can't enjoy more that one class/format.weird.

I think they should introduce great wall into the toyota racing series or maybe chery into the gt3 cup give them some real competition

Bring back OSCAR racing, I wanna build a Morris Minor with a V12 Jag motor like that one that was posted on here a few weeks ago.

There was never a Holden 304 (or 305 for that matter, but they did share the same GM code of LB9). It began as a 253 and became the 308. End of story.
