Man this never worried me until today. Pull up caltex. Go inside ask if I can fill up. He looks at me and tells me I have to move my car to pump five in the middle to fill up. I drove off and went somewhere else.Is it just me haha. I was having a bloody bad day

johnf_456, Jun 3, 1:55pm
You're not the only one I get fed up with them big time we have them in most places in auckland. Which is why I try to go to my local, they never do pre pay and I am not treated like a thief. Another one that my friend does is, takes the pumps off the hook so they have to come out and put them back on the hook.

Pre pay sucks especially when they can't apply common sense.

richardmayes, Jun 3, 1:56pm
Telling you you have to move to pump 5 is weird, never struck that before. You were dead right, his correct answer should have been "how high do you want me to jump, Sir!"

I do like the fully self-serve ones like Pak n' Save fuel where you essentially pre-pay. So much quicker & easier.

bitsy_boffin, Jun 3, 2:00pm
If stations want to have prepay, they should put EFTPOS back at the pump like they used to.Hardly any stations have EFTPOS at pump any more around here.Thankfully, most of them don't do prepay either, yet.

phillip.weston, Jun 3, 2:12pm
my local BP only does prepay on the end row furtherest away from the pump, the rows that their cameras or operators can't quite pick up the rego plate number I assume.

mrfxit, Jun 3, 2:18pm
That new Gull station is good.
ONLY prepay with no attendants on site.
System works well.

mrfxit, Jun 3, 2:21pm
Is that the pumps by the road. If thats correct then it's to stop them doing fast drive off's & by getting directly on to the road.

jason18, Jun 3, 2:41pm
He must have thought I was a dodgy looking in my tradesman like clothes with ladders on my roof

crzyhrse, Jun 3, 3:06pm
I don't do prepay. I only ever fill up and I'm not going inside twice so they either release the pump or I just leave having spent nothing there. Their loss, not mine.

johnf_456, Jun 3, 3:34pm
Same, if they want to treat me like a criminal their loss.

neville48, Jun 3, 3:39pm
And you get higher quality petrol at a better price too.

mrfxit, Jun 3, 3:40pm
HAVE either of you two ever worked in a service station as a pump attendant/cashier/ general staff member.

Your attitudes remind me of ppl that have NO REAL IDEA of what goes on with running petrol pumps.

mrfxit, Jun 3, 3:41pm
Never had to wait in line yet, faster then walking inside even once.

johnf_456, Jun 3, 3:43pm
Just because some people like to do a fill then drive off does not mean its fair to treat everyone like criminals. Wasting everyones times, other parts of NZ have never even heard of prepay so go figure.

mrfxit, Jun 3, 4:05pm
Would be nice if you could answer my question

crzyhrse, Jun 3, 4:12pm
Yes. When I was at high school. What's your point!

mrfxit, Jun 3, 4:17pm
Next question for you is how long ago & at what level of responsibility was it!

.
.Don't worry, there is a point coming.

chris241, Jun 3, 4:21pm
This must be a north island thing ive never heard of pre pay befor . Just pull up put gas /diesel in and go pay then drive off

johnf_456, Jun 3, 4:22pm
Yes I have for short time as young boy at school in the day, but regardless this is not the point. Other parts of NZ have never even heard of pre pay but up in NZ its common I can understand at 1am maybe in the morning by yourself on a gas station. But the trouble is a lot of the indians that run most gas station cannot apply common sense.

crzyhrse, Jun 3, 4:23pm
About 25 years ago. I did few sole charge shifts from time to time. is this going to go the way of the telephone surveys where it just goes on and on and on!

richms, Jun 3, 4:23pm
Saw a video online of a servo that had spikes that popped up when you started to fill and retracted when you had paid. Should be standard in new servos to stop this going inside twice crap. And I dont like leaving my card in there where anyone can see the numbers on it.

crzyhrse, Jun 3, 4:24pm
BTW I just hang up on them. I only ever completed one, for amusement.

crzyhrse, Jun 3, 4:25pm
NZers couldn't cope. There would need to be flashing lights and barriers around the spikes.

crzyhrse, Jun 3, 4:27pm
Not to mention warning signs in 50 different languages, including braille (for the blind drivers - I know they exist - I see them daily).

stevo2, Jun 3, 4:28pm
Ok, I want to fill up so I walk into the shop, wait behind the 4 people in the queue and when its finally my turn, I give my eftpos card and walk back out to fill up.
When Im finished filling, I go back inside and wait in the line again till its my turn. I punch in my pin and Im outa there.
What a bloody waste of my valuable time.
Why cant they just have an eftpos terminal on the pump like Packnsave fuel! There would be no drive offs without paying
Then I dont need to go into their bloody shop.
Oh thats right the shop is actually where the money is made.
My local has prepay and thats the reason I never go in there anymore, Its one of my pet hates.
Cheers Stevo
