It was a project amongst 2 people a back in 2006, I would do some and my mate would do some. I just don't know why you can't believe me and give me a chance. We bought the car cheap off good old trade exchange at the time, not sure if still exists! But anyway we ended up rebuilding the engine from scratch, new rings, valves, head etc. The body was primo since it came from California, little rain there and a not humid like good old nz. So pretty much the body just need some bits replacing here and then, got all the dents taken out and got a pro do the paint job since painting is not my specialty. And yeah what else do you want to know!

But I owned 2/3 of it and we ended up flicking it off, in hope of doing a mustang but we have not got around to it.

cool story

johnf_456, May 18, 6:36pm
Thanks whats your project at the moment. Trying to be positive here.

mantagsi, May 18, 6:37pm
This thread has derailed! Anyhoo if anyone who still cares is looking, I have my trusty old 1968 VW beach buggy slowly but surely coming along. Strangely enough one of the biggest hurdles I have faced is trying to find suitable wheel bolts to suit the cheviot mags, its hard to explain but those who know what I mean will know the pain! I'm considering getting heaps manufactured and selling them, as demand is high and supply seems to be nonexistant

scroll up john and thou shall see

johnf_456, May 18, 6:41pm
Well I thought I would mention it since this thread is about projects, don't go so hard on me. I am trying to post something rather than arguing and at the moment you seem to be arguing more than me. Give me credit or at least try to positive.

xacoon, May 18, 6:42pm
hahahaha ya bored pete!

thejazzpianoma, May 18, 6:53pm
Forget the project. I NEED your shed!

johnf_456, May 18, 6:54pm
For stashing Muliplias and fiats!

xacoon, May 18, 6:54pm
im looking at putting an old chippy and setting up radiators off it in my shed for those extra cold nights, actually I should put that to the top of the project list. there ya go. my project is to heat my shed.

thejazzpianoma, May 18, 6:55pm
LOL, I nearly said as much. I could get hundreds of little Italian machines in there!

johnf_456, May 18, 6:58pm
Are you Italian by any chance random question!

thejazzpianoma, May 18, 7:01pm
No, I just like their engineering. Only the Italians seem to get innovation, art and properly good engineering all together in one package. Even the most simple of vehicles is designed with passion.

dr.doolittle, May 18, 7:04pm
Have you tried the VW club! They had a great display over Easter at the Orewa Domain.

esprit, May 18, 7:14pm
Thanks for the support. I just messaged TM asking them the same thing. I checked the Ts and Cs before posting an external link and there was nothing forbidding it. I was told that my post was deleted because the link was to something "inappropriate or malicious". so it would appear that external links about rebuilding cars is not allowed on this "motoring" forum.

Ho Hum.

mantagsi, May 18, 7:19pm
I'll have to check that out, I've visited / called a vast amount of tyre / wheel places all around the country to no avail, it has really surprised me! I never thought about vw clubs, cheers mate, I might give that avenue a go :)

dr.doolittle, May 18, 7:24pm
I hate to sound sexist (No I don't really but thought I'd better say that) but.I bet the 'Moderator' of Motoring is a women.
A man with even a passing interest in cars wouldn't have deleted your post.
I'd like to see a guy moderating for 'Recipes', maybe it would go something like this,
Poster, "Hi anyone got a good recipe for a tart!"
Moderator(Male), Got a picture, whats she wearing, better still, got a link!

johnf_456, May 18, 7:35pm
Lots of work, you should be in the shed now working

johnf_456, May 18, 7:44pm
