I am dissapointed that the Police in situations like this feel the need to "send a message" yet when I call them and tell them about an owner of wandering stock that appear on a 100km/h blind corner they just laugh at me and say oh we don't look into that kind of thing.

I never laugh at people on the cycleway.
Isee all shapes & sizes riding & have nothing but admiration for them getting out there & having fun.

I didn't say directly personally at you now did I, if a person can not use what is available then moan about the alternative ie using the road, whats the argument. The council wasted heaps on building on a cycle lane for what, because cyclist know better so to me that is a definition of a moron.

illegal to open your car door to get out!
a child could of made the same mistake!
its an accident, the truck killed the cyclist, not the door.

wrong2, Mar 18, 3:12pm
to be parked where he was, & to open your door without care is criminal

as the police/police lawyers seem to think & have charged him

people do loads of things without thinking, & this time & place a death was caused

trogedon, Mar 18, 3:38pm
Then the child made the decision to open the door and they are liable (whether there would be any charge of not is a different story). If my children (or the kids I teach) do something wrong - they did it - it was NOT an accident.

he was parked in a car park, where the council has since removed, as it was considered dangerous!
and considering the truck driver who was following too close behind the cyclist and overtook the cyclist, why is'nt he responsible!

criminal acts are planned and have a motive, this clearly does not.
