Haha just read your review on no cowboys. Should join mine on the Wanganui outlet. Absolute joke those major outlets are, will never approach them again.

Excellent I shall be busy shortly with that soon.

Yes there's nothing quite like the feeling.

You have been expected to do perfect work in your own field, year in, year out; but then when one day you want to spend some money you are served by complete and utter muppets.

God damn Beaurepaires - ha, still a joke clearly. I got screwed over by them years ago - switched to Tonys Tyre Services and have been going to the same branch for 13 years - a couple of the guys working there have been there for that long too. I think the values and customer service ethic instilled into Tonys guys is second to none. Always good service and standard of work, mostly competitive pricing (I can sometimes get Tyres wholesale, so they can't compete sometimes on price), and they look after your car very carefully when it is in their care. I don't often recommend trade businesses to others, but these guys I do.

Go onto the My Tradesman site and post a bad comment about them.I certainly wont be going to that tyre shop. Good luck.

I used to work for them as my first job for 2 years back in the mid 90's, never learnt a thing about tyres or cars, the only training courses they sent me on where sales courses. It wasnt until I moved to Firestone (also years ago) did I learn the first thing about cars, tyres, alignments, suspension etc. Firestone did spend the money on ensuring knowledgeable staff.

Bit reminiscent of how Tonys used to be, all be sitting in smoko roomwhile you stood around like aspareprick at a wedding . But these days they are 100% better . Beaurepaires always seem under staffed , tyre fitters double asofficeboys .

Interesting, It's not just an Australian thing then,They always seem understaffed in Perth WA as well,-That said,Who'd work tyres in Perth with the money they pay Tyrefitters in the mines.

Great thread, Worthy read.

Strange. I got great service out of Beaurepaires in Palmerston North. A great price for two rear tyres a couple of years back. All they had to do was sell them and fit them though. Didn't care what happened to the 235/60 x 15 blocks of plastic my ute tyres aparently became.

Tonys on the other hand stuffed with my utes wheel alignment when they said they didn't touch it due to a bush being cracked (and wanted me to fix it first). and it consequently chewed out two tyres in 30km. They also destroyed my hand brake!
Mrs went to John Bates, and he didn't have a clue what Tony's were on about, and realigned my wheels and fitted two tyres for a really good price.

Yes, I rang Tony's to complain, and gave them a barrel and wanted them to put it right, but decided never to go back there (Well the mrs took it to John Bates), and we haven't been since. Bugger for them, as the car tyres are more expensive than bike tyres these days. and I prefer another tyre shop, that isn't part of a chain.

Couldn't agree more, "Big Name" places have to actually listen to what the customer would like done.

I go to Neumanns Tyres in Ashburton, the last time i was there they had a set of basic tyres they could fit today, or i could order the "Dunlops", which were more expensive.
I decided on the "Dunlops", i figured that the tyres fitted to my car, may as well be the best i can afford, they'd last longer than the basic tyres and would give better handling, feedback, cornering, etc, from the road.
So i asked to get the "Dunlops" in and they rung up and talked to a supplier, and said they'd be here by courier the next day.

They booked my car to have the tyres fitted and then a wheel alignment done.

The next day, i didn't ring them, i just drove there, the courier had been and gone, i parked my car where i was directed and left them to it.

Now this is a bonus, Neumann's location, it's just a 1 minute walk east to the cinema, so i had them book my car in just before the movie started.

So while i'm watching a movie, they're looking after my car.
2 + hours later, i pay and pick up my car up. it's all done!

Sorry you got ignored at Beuarepaires, that will be their loss, i'll bet my Holden that you won't be going back there.ever.

Neumann's. They saved my bacon one Christmas. Had work done on my XE steering rack a week or so before Christmas, Turned out, Meat head service manager at team Hutchinson (big lanky git), decided not to do a wheel alignment as requested. Front tyre blew out just before Ashburton. Was the morning after the work break up. I wasn't driving. Doubt I could if I wanted to. The guys at Neumann's fitted 2 new tyres and done a wheel alignment. I had to wait till the end of the day to get it done as they were flat out. But being Christmas eve, they were and still are bl00d*y legends. Paid the bill and gave them a box of p1$$ as well. Hutchinson finally come to the party after much yelling on his behalf and threatening to call the cops to remove me from their premises. They paid half the total cost in the end. Used pit stop on Fitzgerald Ave after that and always got great service.

this is somewhat the polar opposite of what i hear about star-

for everyone else's info star is a non franchise, local workshop with 5 or 6 bays & a small office & on site parts

did the issue have anything to do with the delay in getting euro parts!

eg day 1: car arrives & parts ordered
day 2: courierpost has delivered parts to blenheim
day 3: still no parts
day 4: parts arrive car fixed!

happens all the time round here.

oops, re read- 6 weeks not days.fail.

clark20, Feb 4, 4:45pm
man that would have to be a very bad alignment to blow a tyre in a week, usually takes months to see the effect on tyres, especially on the non driven wheels
