Answer my question

Gadgit3 is correct in his assumption. Leave well alone. They have always had to give way and they still have to give way, it is a controlled intersection. End of story.

This Tony, the question was for.

The answer to your question in the original post is rather obvious.NO !
evotime,
Mar 25, 2:45pm
Did you read post 6 it didn't work there why will it work here!

evotime! Your original question has been answered by several posters why are you still asking the questions over and over again!
If people ignore the give way sign then it's their driving record and insurance pay out that are at risk. In the meantime, there is no reason to get rid of any signage as the new rules do not affect controlled intersections.
Really honestly - there is nothing else to answer.

In response to above original question: "are they going to ditch the give way signs".
Answer NO. It is a controlled intersection with lights, therefore that part also needs to be controlled, either by a green/ red arrow, or the give way, given the give way works better, it would be idiotic to remove. I have not come across many drivers who get this type of intersection wrong. I suggest EVO that as you say nearly everybody gets it wrong, that you are the one fucking it up.
ontwowheels,

because they want to controll the intersection.
NEW RULES ARE FOR UNCONTROLLED INTERSECTIONS. how hard is that concept to grab!

You no risin cookie boy !
bashfulbro,

Yes, it is , i can see your point now, the Give Way sign on left, could well be redundant
richardmayes,
Mar 25, 3:07pm
Because "they" want people turning left at THAT intersection to give way, irrespective of what the general give way rules for uncontrolled intersections may be.
manukarose1,
Mar 25, 3:07pm
Because it's a give way sign and the traffic needs to give way! Do you actually have a license or hoping to get one!
evotime,
Mar 25, 3:08pm
Ok previous rules I was turning right and was at a give way sign the cars coming the other way were turning left not at a give way sign I gave way they gave way. I was right they were wrong. Full stop. How was I wrong there, what in your opinion makes me the one getting it wrong there!
therafter1,
Mar 25, 3:09pm
Why is it redundant, it is giving priority to the right turning vehicle to facilitate the straight thru traffic.
evotime,
Mar 25, 3:10pm
BUT WHY IS THERE A GIVE WAY SIGN there how does it improve traffic flow/safety
manukarose1,
Mar 25, 3:12pm
aaah i see now - because they have to go first anyway.there is no straight through traffic only left turning so they have to go anyway . those turning right NOW (today onwards) have to give way whether there is a sign or not. I now see what you are getting at.
It will serve as a visual reminder maybe to give way even if they had to anyway!
I think he gets the new rule - but the last photo he's given - the give way sign is not needed with the new rule as they have to give way anyway. under the old law they didn't have to give way so a sign was needed to allow left turning traffic the right of way.
therafter1,
Mar 25, 3:15pm
Because the left turner isn't interfering with anyone, the right turners only have x amount of bay available to them and if they back up too far they will interfere with the straight thru traffic that is probably considerable at peak times, the theory will be to ease congestion at peak times, hence the reason it is controlled.
Never been there so not familiar with the intersection, but that's what it looks like to me.

Regardless, it's still a controlled intersection. Yes, if the new give way rules are applied then it should be done anyway, but we both know what the standard of driving in this country is like. It may not be necessary any more, but why remove it!
therafter1,
Mar 25, 3:23pm
The priority will be for the two straight ahead lanes on the side where the bus is, if the left turners have right of way they are interfering with the right turning vehicles and not allowing the intersection to clear.
Intersections everywhere will be different, and the priority will usually relate to peak flows and attempting to keep the intersection as clear as possible during those peak flows.
manukarose1,
Mar 25, 3:41pm
Oh yes agreed it should stay . its a controlled intersection.
