Son is looking at a manual model at the mo thats a bit tired but still running ok. Whats the most common probs to check on/ lemon statis/ general availability of parts etc. Front brake rotors have a lip Drivers door handle is falling apart Both seats are lose in the rails (is this normal) Inside heater core burst (now disconnected) Gearbox /clutch seems ok (only drove it up the driveway) Can't do much else about checking it over as still recovering from a recent operation
Opinions please on cost of repairs/ whats really bad/ whats really good/ what to tweak easily.

All of those problems are not unusual on the VW/Audis. The factory discs are quite soft and show wear. The door handles often break but spares are available and altho it's fiddly, they aren't difficult to repair. I've replaced 2 or 3 now.Probably the plastic rollers/bushes on the seat rails have crumbled away. Whether it's a WOF issue or not I am not sure but unlikely. The heater core on one of my Audis developed a leak and I bypassed it for a while. Eventually I had the core replaced. It was only about $120 but the labour to dismantle the dash etc was expensive (about 7 hours from memory). What motor is it.!

Got to decide soon before it's too late to back out (might be already)
