one that the owners gave up on and abandoned once they found out about the $14000 gearbox

The GPS also works when ignition is off.Snitch is a full on anti-theft device, well known in NZ.Just like your alarm/immobiliser, it works 24/7, even when your car is turned off.

A tow truck chasing another car at 113kph, while it is carrying another car.Even if you believe that story, that is also a charge of reckless driving. If you don't believe that story, it is car theft (taking a car for a joyride without owner's permission).Either way you look at it, there is criminal charges all over this sorry saga.

Got it in one! Fiat Panda. I must dig out a picture of my driveway and post it from that point in time. I think it was about Panda number 4!

Yes in retrospect I should have, was not expecting them to be such moron's.
East City Towing spokesman Emma says Nicky has not given her real name and is a repeat offender who has had her car impounded before.
East City Towing spokesman Emma also says the registration on the Snitch GPS record does not match the impounded car's registration.
Who do we believe!

I believe the snitch which will show where the car is now, and it shows the car getting to the yard then speeding down the road- the tow company says it was on the back of the truck which was chasing a suspicious car, then it returns to the yard and burns off a second time- what now a second crim! Nah pretty obvious driver 1 joyride return to yard, driver 2 my turn for a joy ride. I wouldn't want my car there either you'd start wondering if there's been an extra key cut etc

Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing 2007 (the Rule) sets out the requirements for obtaining and retaining a licence . The Rule also requires that a driver of a vehicle recovery service vehicle be required to behave in an ???orderly and civil manner??

The local tow company I dealt with broke a multitude of laws when I dealt with them, clearly there are some in the industry that just ignore the law.
Sure the owner of the car could be telling porkies as well but I certainly wouldn't rate their credibility over a tow company's from what I have seen.
I think perhaps its time some of these companies started losing their licenses over this sort of behavior. If it hadn't been for a relative who relied on reciprocal trade from the local company who ripped me off I would have had a go at them (legally) over my experience.

I believe the irrefutable GPS data because neither of those things have any bearing on the matter. Anyone who believes otherwise is clearly not that smart.

This doesn't make sense. Surely you mean WOULD not WOULDN'T.
But if the owner was telling porkies, the tow company wouldn't have offered such an ridiculously implausible excuse. They would have simply denied it was the vehicle they had been told to tow & store.

If it were not for the BS story about chasing the mystery car with the ignition on in the car on the back of the truck there might have been some doubt. The Tow company know they have been spung and are just trying to fib their out of it IMO

The owner should be able to charge the driver with auto theft It's an option I was given to get my car back when my boarder got it impounded

Has it occurred to anyone (including the police) that there may well be CCTV footage of said offenders tampering with other cars on the yard or the fence line or whatever. I'd have thought they'd have their yard pretty well covered bearing in mind the industry they are in. I'd love to here their response to that.

Id bet my weeks pay packet any CCTV footage would show someone working at the impound yard taking the car for a spin at the times the GPS tracker would indicate.
Id also bet my weeks pay packet that if there is any such CCTV footage, the police will never see it.

Just amazes how unprofessional they are , coming up with a poo story then throwing mud at the owner of the car . Any business with a brain would answer every question with a 'No comment' and let their lawyers sort it . not very bright , just keep digging that hole
