s-cemetery-burnoutstime and a place.maybe not there thou.some petty mean burnouts but

dasfi, Apr 30, 4:27pm
Its funny it was on the news, and they said the burnouts caused lots of black smoke, lol must be colourblind

moosie_21, Apr 30, 4:39pm
''It was an appropriate sendoff for a person who was absolutely passionate about drift cars.''

1) I didn't see any drifiting in that video.
2) And so if he had spent his life robbing houses, would it be appropriate to go rob some in respect for him! Would it be considerate to go trash someone elses house and then not clean up! No. Other people use that road, and I don't see any of them cleaning up after themselves.
3) They put little kids at risk, do they want to have another funeral on their hands!
4) 99.99% of the people buried in that graveyard wouldn't want to be disrespected in that way. It's a sacred place, you don't bring that kind of action to a sacred or tapu area.

Morons. End of rant.

i-n-horz, Apr 30, 4:52pm
Would've been more appropriate to hold an event (drifting) in memory and name of the deceased.a slow procession/cruise into to the cemetery with their cars in top condition would've also shown respect to all and gained respect for themselves.

dr.doolittle, Apr 30, 4:52pm
Funny you should say that.
A quote from the report, "Three of the boy racer's cars were seized along with cannabis, ammunition, a stolen car and car parts found during the raids."

neville48, Apr 30, 4:57pm
No disrespect intended to anybody at all but I do not think you people understand the true petrolhead and the meaning of doing the only thing you can do to farewell another true petrolhead, possibly dangerous but probably not. A last petrolhead salute.

moosie_21, Apr 30, 4:59pm
It's called thinking before acting. They could have done it in a paddock, on track, anywhere but where they did it. It's what seperates proper people from no-hopers, actually using the brain you were given instead of acting on impulse. Now they have to pay the price.

trogedon, Apr 30, 5:02pm
Yep sans the F word.

dr.doolittle, Apr 30, 5:09pm
Sorry bud but I dont think what you see is "A last petrolhead salute."
I think it's just boys behaving badly.

extrayda, Apr 30, 5:11pm
I would call them boy racers, not petrolheads (different sort of person).
I've got nothing against a good skid (not that I've ever done one. cough cough.).However, not outside a cemetary in that way, thats just tacky and makes them look like try hards.I'd agree with i-n-horz's suggestion. If you want to do skids, maybe at the wake somewhere out of the way.

cowboy110, Apr 30, 5:14pm
I cringed when I saw the video and read the report but then thought.if it was me who popped off and the hot rod boys turned up and laid down some rubber out of respect with their immaculate 50's cruisers and 60's muscle cars it might have been quite cool.Is the problem that it was outside the cemetary or that it was jappa "boy racers"!

neville48, Apr 30, 5:15pm
As I said you do not understand and no matter what these boy racers do they will never get any good said about them. The last salute was probably in the wrong place but possibly not, no-one was hurt as far as I know, no-one was disrespected as far as I know. I can not condone it but I do understand it. A bit of smoke from tyres is better than smoke from a gun or a bomb, check out the world around us I think we a very lucky with a bit of nonsence from emotional young people.Move on and stop wasting time talking about it. Move on.

extrayda, Apr 30, 5:18pm
cowboy - haha I wondered exactly the same, but it was the place more than anything.Often there are people having other funerals, or "visiting" who would not enjoy that sort of crap going on.
neville48 I don't say anything good about people being twats, japanese cars or not, boy racers or v8 drivers, it's the behaviour, not the car.

neville48, Apr 30, 5:22pm
I'm with cowboy and when my time comes I hope the only person to profit from my funeral is the relatives of Harvey Firestone.

extrayda, Apr 30, 5:24pm
Real men smoke Eagers. (geez that's REALLY showing my age :-)

jgig23, Apr 30, 5:27pm
time and a place for everything, this was neither.

sr2, Apr 30, 5:31pm
I had a good mate die of cancer a few years back. He was a keen biker and a group of his fellow Harley owners followed the Hearse to the cemetery with no helmets on as a mark of ???respect???! I think the same mentality (or lack thereof) applies to these boy racers.

xpfairmont, Apr 30, 5:32pm
Same.

trogedon, Apr 30, 5:32pm
Did you bother to read the rest of the thread!!
A quote from the report, "Three of the boy racer's cars were seized along with cannabis, ammunition, a stolen car and car parts found during the raids."

They're IDIOTS doing idiot stuff but they're got more than "a bit of nonsence" going on.

xpfairmont, Apr 30, 5:35pm
They did; "Three of the boy racer's cars were seized along with cannabis, ammunition, a stolen car and car parts found during the raids".

a.woodrow, Apr 30, 5:38pm
According to the comments there was another funeral being held there that was interupted by these dropkicks in their cars. Should they have to move on! They lost the chance to say a peaceful goodbye to their loved one thanks to a bunch of tossers

a.woodrow, Apr 30, 5:39pm
It's people like this that makes it so hard for genuine car enthusiasts. they give everyone a bad name.

cuda.340, Apr 30, 5:43pm
i went to a bikers funeral a few years back, much better behaviour & showed more dignity, every intersection the funeral procession passed was blocked with bikes so no one interveened with the procession, at the cemetry the boys assisted with the parking & when the coffin was lowered into the ground the bikes did a standing rev up til the coffin stopped, all the boys then stood in a line & shook everyones hand as they left. not that bikes impressed me but i was impressed with their behaviour & honour of a fallen rider/brother.

dr.doolittle, Apr 30, 5:44pm
"His mother Karen Kahui last week said the burnouts were a respectful, and safe sendoff for her 22-year-old son, who died from a heart condition."
So whats wrong with the Marae grounds. Not acceptable!

berg, Apr 30, 5:56pm
Was at a funeral for a biker mate today. Lots of bikers and police rubbing shoulders (mate was a rider and ex cop), lots of bikes but no idiot acts, no burnouts and no disrespect.
