Are they friends of yours!
dr.doolittle,
Apr 30, 6:37pm
Sorry bud but I feel I've got to correct you there. I'd bet they were more into piss, drugs & theft than they were cars. I say that because in all honesty their cars weren't much in the way of an "enthusiasts" car.

Damn, you are correct , no I dont know them but if I think back a few years.many years, I think I do know them and if a few of you think back a few or many years I think you may find you know them too, whether it be right or wrong you know them alright. their cars may seem like heaps of crap to you but to them it may be their tool of escape, a magic carpet, call it what you will. Regards the drugs. a bit of dope, telephone the queen, the stolen parts in a raid, bad yes, back to the original heading "burnouts at cemetary". Hardly a crime worthy mention. Try and look into these guys and their cars and think about your own past and you may be half way to helping to understand the problem and in doing so will !I dont have the answers.Do you !

once at a drag racing friends funeral, the road outside the funeral palour had a couple of huge burnouts done outside it. 500hp big blocks ,the whole of lower hutt was smoked out. that was cool, then we drove to akatarawa cemetary. no skids done there.

Ive just looked into my past. and I found Ive never done a burnout at a cemetary, and Ive never seen it done at a funeral either. however Ive done them at organised events. Its just bullshit kids who think they can and should be able to get away with anything these days and lable it "respect" as there exscuse. Had they wanted to show respect they should have done a quite cruise or similer but that kinda thing dosn't draw attention to yourself or worthy of posting on, you bloody tube. If anything its disrespectfull of others attending and others there at the time. If they want to do burnouts and so on have an organised event and charge a few bucks then donate it to th cancer foundation. But no that takes brains and organisational skills.

Giving the $ they spend on tyres and a weeks gas each to da momma would've more respectful. Not as destructive and 'fun' but more respectful.

Quote"Ive just looked into my past. and I found Ive never done a burnout at a cemetary, and Ive never seen it done at a funeral either" Unquote. That does surprise me. I must be so wrong in my interpretation of this event but in saying that have seen burnouts at a funeral many many times by people and for people that all must be wrong. Muscle cars, hot rods, street rods, bikes,.seen them all and by names you would recognise including myself but hey, we were all wrong and so will all those in the future be. Now I have to move on, we are too different to talk on this so I will move on.
So he was farewelled the same way he lived - in the company of anti-social people who don't really care about their neighbours, who should probably be facing dangerous driving charges, and who can't even be bothered putting on a pair of long trousers for a funeral.
Colour me underwhelmed.
Just another beautiful day in Upper Hutt. Stay classy, kids!

Wouldn't happen, we have too much respect for our muscle cars. A quiet cruise maybe.
pollymay,
Apr 30, 11:23pm
You don't think people that own them come in all shapes and colours! I've seen plenty of muscles and classics pop a skid.
omega12,
Apr 30, 11:36pm
Yes, and I've done it too. Would not do it at a funeral and none of my friends would either.
pollymay,
Apr 30, 11:46pm
You refereed to respect for the car, not respect for the dead, others etc
whqqsh,

agree, although Im not usually one for skids (saying that the urge does overtake me occasionally) I have done a few on request at funerals & these arent for young kids but older hot rodders

I am probably going to get lynched here but ive been there, my grandmother was always giving me a cheeky hard time about cars, burnouts etc (im not a boy racer and and was usually legal stuff) and it was a humerous debate we always had. After her funeral we were leaving the cemetry, i had my grandfather in the car and he said to me '' give the old girl one last smile boy"so i left with a decent burnout. Maybe a little differant to these guys as it wasnt a group thing but i can see the meaning, i know it meant something to me and would of too her

Lots of Police and ex police are bikers, no surprise in them being able to co habitate, maybe if it was a bike gang Id be more surprised. Nice to show that respect to your mate, sounds like a great send off.

Sounds very similar to the funeral / send off for John "The Colonal" Curtin (he was the builder of the V8 bike that resides in Southwards) a few years ago. the whole thing was huge and stopped most of Hastings in it's tracks for 'bout 4 hours. There was numerous different ummm "clubs" there and for the.whole day there was nothing that would make anyone say anything bad 'bout the day.
In my opinion the people and the way the day was run showed 100% respect to not only John but the community he loved & lived in.
Those clowns in that video have shown NO respect to ANYONE or ANYTHING.
They need to go to a funeral of the type of people myself & cuda have mentioned & see how "enthusiasts" show respect.

Hey guysperhaps a different slant on things Takenfrom my past. When I was a lot younger I used to ride with "that" type of biker. Not the tassles and patched kindbut the kind that were ripping along at 100mph plus on the open road. "Concequences -bahh what concequences!" was our attitude. End result was that I went to an awful lot of funerals and put a fair few freinds into body bags. As each guy was buried in the ground or "burned up"The knot in my belly got bigger and bigger and the pressure behind the temples got more and more intense. Whilst at the funeral of a good freind who to make things a lot worse killed himself on my bike something went bang inside my head. I grabbed the bike I was riding and lit it up at about 7000rpm . smoke billowing off my back tyre as I ripped outa the cemetry at gosh only knows what speed. I have no memory of the next few hours in all honesty I quit riding with other people not long after that.If you don't see the crash it doesn't hurt as much. Life came full circle 7 years ago. I started to hang out with the "fast boys" (power rangers) again. I started to enjoy the competition. The chalenge of being first to the top or to the cafe. But like every unbroken cycle you end up with the same effect. People maimed and killedFunerals to go to. You put the sadness into a little box in your mind and bury it deep so you can carry on with life. But it sits there like a timebomb waiting to explode. This time I got away from the fast crowd before I exploded -or it was me that was burried. Once again I ride alone.
Sorry for the diatribe but my point is. I don't condone the actions of those guys for one instant But I do understandthat if it was a genuine expression of grief at the loss of a freind I do understand. Its part of the healing process-Not for the dead mate but for you.
dr.doolittle,

Yes Kaz but if you could have, would you have uploaded your 'expression of grief' to Youtube for the world to see! I think thats what some of what makes thisdifferent.

True, we've seen it so its easier to make judgements on it.

The PC response is of course "no I wouldn't have" But the honest truth -I just don't know mate. Something inside me head snapped that day and any kind oflogicical decision making was just not there.
