A holden tank is much harder to handle in those conditions, and yes the wheel did come off that prelude, snapped all 4 wheelstuds so ordered some ARP ones. First time I've driven the thing in anger and got third behind a VR4 and imprezza. No I'm not taking them to the dragstrip, I'll let my uncle front for that.

What is J.E.R.K.S an acronym for! And stop calling it a 2 tonne saloon. It's 1600kg's (which makes it 30 kg's less than a new V6 Honda Accord).

I think a J.E.R.K. is a great big meanie who doesn't show Holden owners the respect they (believe that they) are due.!

Sunbirds, While I agree the small engine's were beyond hopeless and the Traumatic an even worse combination, I found the rest of the car O.K. The LX I had was nice to travel in and handled quite well for its age and what the car was designed as. If only they had an engines like some of the other manufacturers were using, imagine one with a Fiat Twin cam 2.0 engine and 5 speed box, or even something like a larger version of Honda's offerings of the period with a 5 speed.
I just can't believe they sold so many when you could buy a MK4 Cortina with a much more capable and forgiving 2.0 engine. The MK4 also rode beautifully so while the Sunbird was good in that area its not like the Ford missed out.
They were only around 1100KG so its not like they needed a huge donkey to get the job done for the average family, but what they needed was something efficient and a decent transmission.
There was the SLR5000 for those who wanted a sledge hammer.

In the '70s I had a lime green XU1. I've made some poor buying decisions in my time, but that one gets first prize for total brainfreeze by me. What a completely crap Holden that was. Gets my vote as the worst Holden ever. I've driven a dray pulled by 2 farting draught horses that was more comfortable.
In the '60s I had an FJ which had a nifty little habit of leaving the gear lever (column change) in my hand, unattached to anything, when dragging at the lights and attempting a fast change from 2nd to 3rd. Still, I thought it was cool to even have a car then.

give it a rest already .your not gonna make any mates unless you learn to agree to disagree.Mate your not a car guru tho you talk like one your holden is not fast ,sorry but its not what i or alot of people refer to as fast .So what if a Honda Accord is a bit slower than and 3.8ltr supercharged holden Woopdy doo the holden has more power and tourqe factory the accord does fine for what it is and its far superior in other ways i.e fuel economy and tread wear and other ways but in the same sence your holden is better more power for towing and up hill driving ect .lets not make a unrelated topic take over what this tread is about ,ps dont diss hondas dude Each to there own if you want to start another thread

You where the one going on about the euro R anyone who know's anything about hondas knows that type R Hondas are not built poorly in some third world country there very well built And ill say it a Type R Honda is built to far far far higher standards to a holden hsv or other holden ,ps who's talking a bout the v6 honda accord is shit everybody knows that lol
Wow - did not expect this to be still going. Did y'all have a good weekend now!
It's not just Honda Accords that are better without a V6. I'd own an HR Premier or Special if the opportunity arose. They are pretty, they don't have the elegance of the Mercedes 250s of the same era but they have a similar understated dignity to them. And the 6 cylinders are arranged in a straight line, they way 6 cylinders should be.
[Too bad that Holdens apparently decided not long after this that understated dignity wasn't the look they were after, and "look at me, I'm really loud and fast" was where it's at. ]

Are you saying the likes of the SLR 5000, HZ GTS and the VL Walkinshaw aren't understated and dignified.!
