What are the worst Holdens?

nightboss, Jun 25, 7:19am
Name one car that FORD has sold that is a re-badged HOLDEN.

guider1, Jun 25, 7:21am
I think that was just a wind-up. there's plenty of it going on in here. lol.

This thread is a mile off track now anyway but when people start trying to state facts that are in a field out of their league it amuses me.

nightboss, Jun 25, 7:29am
Calm down Snotty - time for your RITALIN.

guider1, Jun 25, 7:31am
Oh yeah. AND fastest streetcar in USA last year (or year before maybe) was a Camaro. He towed a trailer which had his race rims & tyres on it for 1500 miles between tracks.

guider1, Jun 25, 7:34am
Hey scotty. dude i'm working with has a VX SS which has dyno'd at 670rwhp & runs 10.90 @ 136 with a 6spd in it. He's replacing the 6spd with a 4L80E so he can go faster.

guider1, Jun 25, 7:35am
Wait for it scotty. I can hear them now "But that's a Buick engine" (in a whiney girlie little voice).

guider1, Jun 25, 7:38am
kevymtnz has a short memory. remember the 3300cc 6cyl XU1 peeling the so-called "mighty" (yeah right) 5800cc GTHO at Bathurst! lol. but hey, what would we know ay scotty!

nave12, Jun 25, 7:38am
So to sum it up most Holdens are crap and a few get away with the ok factor.

nave12, Jun 25, 7:44am
Gee guider1 you seem to be taking a shine to scotty,There is enough Ford powered drag cars to satisfy me as if there were'nt any what would make a good rivalry between makes and actually helps keep the sales rolling along for any make.Even mitsi vs subaru(evo vs wrx) will go on forever and is quite amusing.

nave12, Jun 25, 7:51am
john Force has'nt done to bad over the years either with 17 NHRA championships under his belt and its on sky quite often yay,and some fine looking daughters following his legacy.

3tomany, Jun 25, 8:00am
take chill pill as i said my falcon is stock standard just the way i like it and i have no intention of racing it because i have nothing to prove because i havnt made any claims about its performance

guider1, Jun 25, 8:38am
There ya go, I fixed it for you.

sifty, Jun 25, 8:40am
Is anyone going to comment on my assertation that it is the cheap badge engineered 'Holden's' that devalue an ok brand.!

Is it short sighted to badge a cheap asian vehicle full of trinkets as a Holden for example, or would you be better off simply selling them as Opels, Daewoos or whatever under the GM umbrella! To my mind, this does a dis-service to the likes of 'real Holdens (even though I realise they too are Opel/Vauxhall based).

Apart from that, this thread is going really, really well.

guider1, Jun 25, 8:44am
Also Eddie Tassones Holden powered untubbed VK ran a very wobbly 8.1 @ 177 on it's very first pass. about 15yrs ago.

guider1, Jun 25, 8:47am
It's like most non-asian car brands. If they see the need to break into the small car market they will find a model that they like, do a deal with the manufacturer for X amount of them & simply rebadge them with minor branding mods to fulfill the needs of the public.
Holden to me stopped at the Commodore/Monaro.

richardmayes, Jun 25, 8:49am
You mean, like the Vauxhall Omega based ones! Agreed.

guider1, Jun 25, 8:57am
Clevelands biggest downfall is the oiling system. great head design, no doubt about it (thanks to Zora Duntov) but why oh why would you give oiling priority to the main that isnt doing all the work!
Windsor. nice revvy engine, small in stature compared to the Clevo yet suffers from asthma due to a bad port design.

nave12, Jun 25, 9:17am
My quote is solid and cannot be fixed, one of my favourite ones where they say Ford then show the badge and have a saying "at least they circled the problem" when in fact it is an oval(shows the intelligence)then look back at the holden emblem to find that it is in fact a circular badge so it is to their misfortune that it is "Holden, at least they circled the problem" always have a good laugh with that one.

jackson107, Jun 25, 9:52am
Mapman the only Holden in that lot uses a Nissan engine lol. Tyring to compare a Corvette to a Falcon is just lame and I think your taking this all too seriously. The Holdens I have owned have been ok but mediocre at best.I havnt owned one but I knew someone that owned a 4 cylinder Commodore. Woeful lol.

richardmayes, Jun 25, 10:21am
The most sensible thing you've said on this thread so far Scotty.

Is it the massive plastic spoiler on the back that makes the Holden better than the Omega!

nave12, Jun 25, 10:33am
Theres nothing needed to be said thats why, they are just small economical round town shopping carts in the real world,as is almost any other small car(around the same size and engine wise) in an automotive makers range. It is just a buyers segment that gets filled, its all about the coin and if theres a market it will be filled.

richardmayes, Jun 25, 10:37am
If "good dynamics" and keeping the back end under control matters to you, then presumably you have a manual gearbox in your Holden, right Scotty!

You know, the stick-shift thingy! I didn't think many commodores came with those.

guider1, Jun 25, 10:59am
What on earth has a manual box got to do with keeping the rearend stable! Geeziz!
Had manual V8's, much rather a tricked auto myself. faster gear changes & can be used as a manual if needed without the hassle of a clutch, faster 1/4 mile times, faster take off, faster all round really if using a decently built trans. unless you're circuit racing/rallying of course.
Got to be able to put your hand on at least 1 decent sized knob ay richard! lol.

sifty, Jun 25, 11:07am
Pffft my twin cam rotary multipla would beat all you pansies.
