do you want power or do you want ecconomy! power! stick with the DP n start tuning. Ecconomy! sell the pos & buy a 4 cylinder. :)

that edelbrock is a good carb but it's not a HP carb. but you'd find it would probably work well on your combo. they're an air valve secondary, unlike a vac secondary, if the engine can't suck it, it don't open fully.

Ok Cheers. Thing is I dont know if I should go full on power or drivability. Im not going to race it etc but I do like my power. I just want a car to jump in and drive smooth but still have power when needed.

buy the edelbrock. at least theres no gaskets below the fuel line so no leaks.

when i got the 340 first running i had a850 thermoquad, was tricky to tune right, changed it for a holley 650 spreadbore dp. kinda good but didn't quite like slow traffic, changed it for an Edelbrock & bought a tuneup kit for it. experimented with it but came back to it's std setting. the Eddie was the most street mannered carb i had, you'd probably find the same. changed it for a Holley 750 dp, most power, best performance drank loads of gas in heavy traffic, but it went fast.

Ok have been mucking around with them but havent got it any better. Is a 29 primary an ok size shooter or should it be larger! The secondary is 37.

The primary butterfly must be adjusted so that a small portion of the transfer slot is below the throttle blade at idle so it appears as a "square".Then you need to set your idle mixture.A vacuum gauge or a wideband meter will help here. When you have that done you can set up your shooters and pump cams. You might have to change the jets too.
