just get the right manifold. 4V motors do lack a bit of torque down low but they perform well in higher revs, as im sure you have found out. Might be a case of changing diff gears to keep the revs up, or get a higher stall convertor, either way will result in a bit less economy but cure the down low blues.

Oh ok no worries. Swapping to a performer will definately help more tho im guessing compared to the torker

Looking at the rpm manifolds. Surely I could modify the performer and cut it down the middle splitter down a little and it would be the same!

well the 351 has sold, and i have bought a 460 and C6. Just been shopping at STA and got a bottom end rebuild kit. I think the Edelbrock RPM cam kit is a bit more than i wanted but it will produce 500+ HP with Edelbrock heads and RPM manifold, so i guess they are on my shopping list now. Now i have a shitload of cleveland parts to sell to pay for my heads. Hopefully be skidding again in about two months.

shift kitted, and it has had a bit of work done on it by my mate, the previous owner. i think he had a new pump, filter and a few other bits and pieces replaced. no hi stall

not really tricked up then, more of a stock rebuild!

Jun 14, 2:47pm
yeah i s'pose thats more accurate.

Ok cool as cheers mate, Mines running mint but if I can find one thats got a hi stall already in it that would be sweet!

apart from the colour i can't really knock the 351 clevo's, them 4v heads make them engines crank out some good ponies. they're equivilent to my mopar max wedge heads, makes the cubes into great displacement pumps. stroke up the 351 & they'll match my mopar for power.

yep the 427 hemi ford and the mopars had some grand battles in the 60s 70s drag wars, like the thunderbolt bog standard doing 11,s in the 60,s! awesome.

Bit of an update. Finally got all the bits and pieces together saturday and put the 4v Performer on saturday. Took it for a drive today and f.me! What a difference. So much more power of the line. Stutter is pretty much non existant. I think the cam is so lumpy that it has a tiny bit of a stutter from that! I will get carby tuned up to suit new manifold but the fact I floored it out of the work shop and she wouldnt keep a straight line. Shows me there is way more torque hahah. So stoked. Thanks for all your help guys. I could have been wasting money on carbs but manifold was right on the money

One question is would there be an advantage to changing to a vacuum advance carby over the double pumper! Not fuel usage wise but power/running wise! Keen to get a choke too.Whats your thoughts on a holley street avenger 670. Or shall I just roll the 750 d/p

Holy moly the power that motor makes is awesome. She loves to spin the tyres. Operating temps. Whats an ideal temp. Seems to run about 160-open road and 180 cruising.

That's all good. Cheers for the heads-up.

didn't i say that right at the beginning on your earlier post! lol

Yeah mate, Thats why i did manifold first. Thanks for the info!

Still unsure what to do with my carby. Would you tune and run the d/p Or swap for say a 750 v/s!
rmbimports,
Jun 20, 2:45pm
You did but at that stage those of us saying he was over carbed were unaware of the fact he had a single plane manifold on it. I still feel a 750dp is too much for that engine. A 600-650 VS should give an ideal mix of get up and go with a little better economy.

Alot of people have told me a 750 should be fine tho as well as people saying its over carbed. Plugs are a perfect colour. Am wondering if stutter is now because of cam being to agressive!
