I need to buy steel tube for some seat mounts in a race car. I have tried all the shops in the yellow pages in Upper Hutt, and no one says they sell what I need. I am after boxed steel approx 20mm a side kind of stuff, about 2m in length.

Do you have a 'Steel and Tube' there! That's where I get my stuff. 25mmX25mm Box Section is very common and should be readily available.
ETA - You may have to buy a 6.5 or 8 metre length though.

I'd imagine what you're after is 22.2 mm square EWS with the heavier 1.6 mm wall.

Wish I could help; I use Steel Nth. Shore up here in Auck, they are happy to cut to size. There must be someone who fabricates from Wellington on this MB who can offer some advice!

How much do you want to pay for a couple of meters! Its around $26 for a length of the stuff last time I brought some . ummmm 19mm x 19mm x 1.6 wall at around 5.5m in length. ERW Square Tube. Just get a length!
