that's strange as most kids car seats have a belt path through the back or bottom structure of the seat and not normally over the outside of the entire kiddie seat. And are you rear facing or front facing it! Front seat or back seat! Lap and Diagonals or just the centre lap belt! Does your seat need a top restraint strap!

If it's a recent model car Repco might be able to do an extension.
Otherwise you might need to replace the belt with a new one that is - hopefully - longer.
Some, I wouldn't say "most".

Ok well then I'd suggest you try my advise-get a longer buckle end stalk for that side
