Five people then gave you pretty well much the same answer what does that tell you!Bring in in as our crystal ball is in the shop for repairs. This is the system that others use and it does work.

christinii. hi as people have said bulbs etc. If you cant get it sorted you can get a new flasher unit (relay) that is used to replace jap ones when changing to led light which causes hyper flash even though you haven't changed to led. Like this one http://ledstuff.co.nz/product_info.php!products_id=104&osCsid=ttusmauzfqfkq
Hope this helps

Far out what a sh*t fight all over a bulb

I'm wrong-cost to OP $5.00 and the ability to say to local sparkie -I tried xxxxxx I'm rightTOTAL cost $5.00Pretty much a no brainer isn't it! Ie the cost for me being wrong in offering a fix that will work TOTAL $5.00
Are you saying you WOULDN'T check the simple stuff first! Hmm funny aftermarket indicator fitting in the front.---Maybee accident replacement with too low a wattage bulb. Waith though -Fitting wont take a standard bulb Need to raise total wattage so the overall wattage is the same as factory. Fit a bulb in another location with an equal increase in wattage. But don't let logic get in the way of your diatribe aye.

problem is just one side

If as some are saying upping the wattage will increase the flash and OP has said that the front bulb holder is not the correct unit could it be possible that some cowboy has worked on the wiring (just about anywhere on the circuit) and has created a partial short.Other option could be that if the front is a combined side light and blinker that its wired back to front.I'd have thought that front and back would be 21w (fronts could be 21/5w twin filaments) and the sides would be 5w.I agree swopping the bulbs from side to side is the easy way but as Op has said can't do that it really is becoming a job for someone with a multimeter and the knowlege to use it.

If my thinking is right the total wattage should be 47w.If as OP says she only has 31w she needs to add 16w to the circuit somehow.Surely if the front is only 5w the other problem would be that it will be too dim.

And if you have no idea what you are doing and cause even more damage what cost is that!My guess and this is just a rough one because i am not as knowledgeable as you is way more than what a decent professional would have charged in the first place. But its only free information you are giving and no responsibilityon your behalf carry on. "Pretty much a no brainer isn't it! "wonder how many times that has been said before a DUCK UP.

Geeessss hornnett lighten up for goodness sake.OPcame on here as far as i can tell asking if the MB could suggest a fix for her problem.Sure some of us on here engage in some borax poking from time to time but i fail to see what any of your postings in this thread have done apart from unwarrented attacks on fellow posters.OK maybe you think it better that the Op take the car and pay to have it fixed, if thats your opinion you are welcome to say that and then quite frankly keep quite after expressing your opinion.Others have suggested possible reasons and possible ways to overcome those reasons and thereby fix the problem. The only expensive damage that I can think of would be to burn the car to a chrisp.Unless the fuses have been bypassed thats not a very likely possability.Whilst the OP is not a rocket specialist I don't consider them to bea "dimbulb" (pun intended) either. The questions are lucid as are the responses.
hornnett,

Yea you are right the only damage would be the car burnt to the ground. So what happens when later on this same person wants to know how to fix their BRAKES,whats the worst that could happen eh.

Apparently someone's crystal ball isn't in the shop after all.

They might break something perhaps!I'm sure we could quide them through doing a complete reline useing a pair of tweezers and a ball point pen.You underestimate the MB's members powers.LOL

Pull your head in.Go on explain how fitting a 10w rather than 5w bulb in an INDICATOR is going to cause major damage! NOT ONCE have you said --NO that is not a possible cause of the problem.Nor have you said that it is not part of the diagnostic process to check the overall wattage of the bulbs.Instead you have replied with banal generalities. The OP isn't asking to fix brakes they are asking for possible and simple solutions to a minor electrical issue.

"The OP isn't asking to fix brakes they are asking for possible and simple solutions to a minor electrical issue."And yet the brains trust is still way of the mark. All automotive problem require thought not the guess and hope system of the uninformed. Most garages should in fact up the charge out rates as we under valve ourselves, after reading how the rest of you go around fault finding.

only my 2 cents, the bulbs cant be in series, cause if one was to blow the affected indicator side wont workas well as the first bulb will be the brightessed and the last dull.

Yea thats what i am worried about, finding it hard these days to make a decent living as the trademe motoring MB are fixing their own and others vehicles.
ljack,
Jul 5, 7:36pm
true, but maybe cause alot of peoplefind it hard to find the cash for a tradie, god knows parts arent cheap (even with dicount) so most can only try to cut down on labour costs with the aid of MBs and google
