If your wof has expired but you've been for a wof

i also get disappointed with people-daily-,however i don't choose to worsen things by fueling it with negativity-weird logic.

roadkillcafe, Jul 21, 8:09pm
if indeed that was the case AND if i felt i owed you an answer AND if you weren't entirely and soley negatively critical of everyone and their posts, you might have found an answer forthcoming.

roadkillcafe, Jul 21, 8:22pm
It's a pity you don't have a blinding flash of obvious-read my lips.I NEITHER OWE YOU, NOR NEED, ANY EXCUSE FOR ANYTHING. Over and out hornett.

bootylicious5, Jul 21, 8:29pm
FFS Who gives! It's not my business or yours where he resides!

roadkillcafe, Jul 21, 8:32pm
Actually, i just call it 'a life' (nothing 'double' about it-unless, of course, someone's living in the dark ages).

bitsy_boffin, Jul 21, 8:34pm
Can't see that they'd bother, and as somebody pointed out "sir do you realise your WoF has expired, you should get that sorted" is quite a lot better than "sir I see that your vehicle failed it's WoF for 'brakes' last week, I'm going to put this sticker here on your window"

roadkillcafe, Jul 21, 9:42pm
cheers-i'm not sure what you been/the relevance of earning money is,but i guess i appreciate the sentiment. All good mate.

Once your warrent expires thats it, it is just that, expired. It will show as such on there system and by how many days weeks etc.And it would be a good idea for many to book there cars in 2 weeks before it expires so any probs can be fixed. The new warrent starts after the old one so no loss there.
Mind you I cant talk, well i did try to book it in a week before but they were busy and couldnt do it till following week. And I didnt think it would fail anyway but indeed it did lol. Fixed withen 2 days though.
And I dont think there is a two week grace period to drive your car as normal after experation, but you may drive it directly for repairs. But most cops will be sensible (if you are as well) and let you go with a "get it sorted" warning. But thats generally just a few days over.

mrfxit, Jul 22, 7:57am
LOL, was thinking the very same thing about you ;-)

h2oldragon, Jul 22, 8:04am
No they can't so if you still are showing a current WOF you won't get a ticket.
If you do not have a current WOF you most likely will get a ticket. The likelyhood of getting one is directly in proportion to the plausibility of you being directly on the way to a place of repair or not.

socram, Jul 22, 8:04am
Most!Depends if they are down on their quota. The days of the average good cop gaining respect from the community by using discretion, seems to have been destroyed by an obsession with quotas from their senior management.Do you think a junior cop with a family and mortgage and a future, is going to argue with a senior officer over this policy!
Get the Wof early, it is the only way.

Oh, and don't feed the troll, then it might just fade away again. No point in arguing with a fool.

mrfxit, Jul 22, 8:08am
YES, they can ticket you with a current wof but it's called (something like) "operating a vehicle not up to wof std"

mrfxit, Jul 22, 8:15am
The no wof/ transport to wof /repairs place only etc defence is only applicable if the vehicle would already be considered 'safe to operate within the parameters of the wof system
Even then, the you can still be ticketed but can be defended successfully in court
We HAVE done the "safe to operate" bit with a damaged vehicle that was documented as "safe to drive for the purpose of obtaining repairs & a wof" by a police officer & the local garage + he nominated that we could drive it between Huntly & Hamilton

gunhand, Jul 22, 8:26am
A cop once told me, we have no quota's, we can ticket as many people as we like and can catch in a day week, month or year.
This quota thing has been tossed about for a long time now. Can anyone point to the writtin legislation that proves it excists! Because so far all ive seen and read is, he said she said kinda stuff.
About all I know is they are supose to (or were) make so many "contacts" in a day, nothing to do with ticketing unless when they do make contact theres faults, but whose fault is that!.
Its almost urban legend stuff, bit like one of those scary monsters lurking on corners and under bridges, its supose to be there but no one can see or prove it.

h2oldragon, Jul 22, 8:52am
Yes I agree but that wasn't the point I was making. If the WOF is current still they aren't likely to go looking for issues. If it has expired and you are 200m from the tyre shopyou might be lucky. 10.30 at night forget it

flitt, Jul 22, 9:08am
#1 - Negative. Police computer shows date of last issued WOF expiry date only.

flitt, Jul 22, 9:11am
Not really, considering that is exactly what #1 was asking.

mrfxit, Jul 22, 9:25am
Yep, it's the 'late at night or out of the path to wof/repair place' that catchs a lot of ppl.
Generally, if you BOOK an appointment for a specific time & day/ travel directly between the wof/repair place AT the appointed time/day AND the vehicle is in a "safe to operate" condition, then the cops probably won't ticket you & if they do ticket you, you can often successfully challenge the ticket in court provided that everything fell in to place such as >>>>
You DID pass the wof
you have letterhead doc's from the repair to state the car WAS safe to operate 'on the day' (including confirmed appointment times etc)
&
Probably a few other official bits such as above.

Been there done that with the ticket but didn't have to go to court. (no wof/reg/ .Delivery direct to place of repair (home) / got wof/reg within 4 days of ticket)

mrfxit, Jul 22, 9:31am
Technically correct BUT with the proviso that there is allowance written in law about free passage between home/repair place & wof/repair/home place DIRECT plus *"safe to operate"

If the vehicle isn't considered 'safe to operate on a public road" then it must be trailered/trucked to & from .>>>>. <<<

mrfxit, Jul 22, 9:36am
1 of the traders here got snapped for no wof on his way to a wof place when he stopped off at a garage for petrol.
Technically off 'the path' + if I remember correctly, didn't have a confirmable appointment for the wof

granada, Jul 22, 9:40am
I dont know about a quota system but a cop friend said he has a charge out rate and is expected to generate a cetain dollar value in tickets each day.Pretty much equates to the same thing.
Also got to wonder about this dodgy Hornet character.why doesnt he buy something. I ride a CB900f Hornet and his posts give my bike a bad name.Sit back and wait for abuse

mrfxit, Jul 22, 9:44am
Yea got a couple of very similar sounding characters running about recently in a couple of other message boards

pauldw, Jul 22, 10:26am
That would be a very rigid application. Many WOF places are while you wait. The Tauranga council used to point out that any car caught in the main shopping area would be fair game as there weren't any garages there.

flitt, Jul 22, 10:32am
With all respect, either you are making that up or your cop mate was having you on.

If there is any pressure to get tickets it is those of an accident prevention type (seatblets, speeding, intersections and suchlike). A TRAFFIC cop MAY be expected to produce a certain minimum number of these a shift to show he wasn't reading the newspaper all day.

The idea that they seek a high dollar value is absurd.

gmphil, Jul 22, 10:41am
Just like acc if they tell u not intitle anddont give they get bonuses end of year with ur intitlement same govt so yup id believe it
