Yes (only ones saying no are shops scared of losing wof fee and work they can scare people into thinking they need and car importers).

tshop, Oct 12, 6:27pm
Yes or No dippy

olskinflint, Oct 12, 7:51pm
'kin oath- yes

maegit, Oct 12, 7:57pm
And this is why: Partner takes newly fully restored motorcycle in to get re vinned and a wof etc. comes away with SCRATCHES on the brand new paint job and had to push start it cos they forgot to turn it off and take the keys out. Never going back there again (they even put miles instead of kms on the info and it took ages to get it sorted through the system back to kms)

maegit, Oct 12, 8:04pm
And yes. wof is a new way to make money out of the public.
Doesnt seem to be consistant.
Worst was when one place was so focussed on finding silly faults they didnt find a dangerous one, that was picked up by another wof place(sometimes its good to get a second opinion when you think youre being ripped off!)

granada, Oct 12, 8:12pm
Yes,but we need monthly inspections on wiper blades and washer bottles.

moby, Oct 12, 8:33pm
Anything the gummint makes mandatory turns into a beano for somebody.
WOFs ! - musta got 50 or so in the last 3 decades, never failed one - what a tragic waste of time and money. No wonder the MTA (or whoever it is) is getting Murph to push their cause. The golden goose is in danger of a severe plucking. Buy decent, newish or new vehicles, not Jap castoffs, maintain them, and WOFs just become an annoyance.

casper35, Oct 12, 8:35pm
No leave it alone the system works fine.

fordkiwi27, Oct 12, 9:29pm
40 yes to 36 no. but im pissed.

tshop, Oct 12, 9:56pm
In Wesrtern Australia no W.O.F checks, so they must have a real low population accordingly to the m.t.a, t.v ad.

granada, Oct 12, 10:43pm
2.4 millionpopulation and the system works well here. There are still controlls to keep vehicles up to standard. Probably 2 million in Perth and the rest live in the sticks so there are traffic jams and conjestion.Any crap cars are pulled over and yellowed stickered.

motorboy2011, Oct 13, 7:07am
Yes. 44 to 37.

moby, Oct 13, 11:39am
There should be an additional question : are you in any way associated wth the motor trade. That would sort out the sheep, goats and gannets.

rsr72, Oct 13, 11:44am
2 years,
or scrap it completely. It has served it's purpose in a Third World country.
No other country has it, including big, proper, First World countries.
Time we grew up.

hyphen, Oct 13, 11:56am
But, the Pacific Island of New Zealand is a third world country, and nobody here can be held accountable or responsible, it's all the gummints fault!
Oh, and NO

chebry, Oct 13, 12:39pm
YES Scrap it

mrsdoobercoons, Oct 13, 1:40pm
YES, or scrap it or at ownership change or yellow sticker. The current system penalises the owners of safe vehicles for the sake of a few dickheads and the "motor trade"

I've been driving home at dusk lately and have been noticing the number of oncoming vehicles with lighting faults. So I started counting the number of compliant vehicles I went past between each faulty one.In a week I haven't got to 10.That's around rural Queenstown. It's still an offence to operate a vehicle that's not up to warrant standard, even if it has one, so there's a pretty obvious enforcement shortfall.

tshop, Oct 13, 1:43pm
thanks its just people mining in NZ, If we had a few mines they wouldn't be targeting us.

outbidyou2, Oct 13, 4:08pm
Yes OR No Answers Only.

This is why wof has to stay at 6months. NZers are too thick to follow instructions in a poll, let alone keep their car up to scratch.

tmcs1, Oct 13, 10:44pm
No, it should be weekly. Actually every time you fill up your tank. That would be great.

tshop, Oct 13, 10:46pm
I'll count that as a thumbs up

rivermist8, Oct 14, 5:54am
Even the AA is reported to support the change.

rivermist8, Oct 14, 6:01am

fred-a, Oct 14, 6:46am
