Yes.Limited edition two door Equipe with black vinyl roof.Probably been off the road for a while now according to car jam, but would like to know if it still exists and would be keen to restore it. (Don't ask why!)

Imagine the TM message board with everybody writing in TXT talk , what a bullsh*t place it would be. Everybody would think people on here are all under 18 and dropped out of school at 14. Theres a time and place for txt talk and its a thing called a cellphone.

if the owner hasn't 'opted out' i think you can get their details by paying for a report or applying at nzpost as you probly know.

"Slagging off those who expect bugga all standards is your choice and I am not offended by it or by you, but I don't have to agree with you."

johnf_456, Nov 3, 12:31pm
Just try belky, I make an effort when I struggle with it.

It's funny, I've been trawling through archives at my job the past few days, and I've come across old naval transcripts from the Morse Code days in the 20s and 30's. Guess what, some of them communicated in what appears very much to be TEXT LANGUAGE! So all those kids out there thinking they're cool really aren't, because they're great grandfathers were doing it EONS before they were, hahaha

kazbanz, Nov 3, 4:06pm
It must be that time of month or summat !
On one of my auctions is the following.
were about is viweing in hendo!

I thought the reply was polite.
I do apologise but unfortunately the only written language I understand is English.

freedomaira320, Nov 3, 4:15pm
Yes, it's nothing new. Just ask an older office worker about shorthand.

But the real problem is, as clearly shown by the quote in the OP's post, is that it is badly abused. Some people think they can write any old sort of broken up abbreviation and expect others to understand it. Since when did "was" mean "where is"! And why didn't he put "it" after "using". I think you'll find people wouldn't come down so hard on text speak if it followed some sort of logic.

Not that it has any place outside messaging between text users. A question on a TM auction should NEVER be in text speak, because that isn't necessarily the language of the reader. We have a perfectly good tool that works for virtually the entire population of NZ - it's called English. We don't ask questions in German or French (even though there's a fair few German and French speakers here), and likewise we shouldn't ask them in text speak.

smac, Nov 3, 5:51pm
socram check his auction again.I guess he doesn't get irony either.

mad924, Nov 3, 6:18pm
his ads, although not perfect, are written much better than his question to you was. I'd like to speculate that he used text speak because he was browsing TM on his phone.

un_known, Nov 3, 6:27pm
Since you are speaking in in english by your logic wouldnt that make you up yourself.

neville48, Nov 3, 7:46pm
Two dyslexics in a car and one says "hey man ,can you smell petrol"! The other says man your a dork, you know I can't even smell my name.

socram, Nov 4, 11:36am
Yeah! Dog rules.

mrfxit, Nov 4, 11:51am
Theres a lot of it about >>>> *sung to music*

Yea I get that a bit as well.
Often find my self thinking of the spelling of the 1st word but printing the 2nd letter 1st
Or . teh /tehm .& a few others
Or
Thinking of the 1st word in a sentence but printing the 2nd word & even then, it will be the 2nd letter instead of the 1st letter of the 2nd word

mrfxit, Nov 4, 11:53am
Of course,
BUT if those documents were needed in a law court, they would be written out in FULL english, same goes for std shorthand notes

tigra, Nov 4, 12:08pm
Sell it to him and give him a very vague address in text speak.

socram, Nov 4, 12:31pm
LOL! He is the leading bidder too.

extrayda, Nov 4, 5:27pm
socram - I remember that car, Silver Allegro (didn't remember how many doors though). The guy who owned it had a Hillman Hunter before it I think (or might have been after). Was that you! Was North Shore Birkenhead area in the late 80's I think.

socram, Nov 4, 8:19pm
He bought it from us and he lived in Birkenhead before he moved to Warkworth. I haven't owned a Hillman Hunter! It is a two door.
