Socram, I take it you've been in contact with him if you know where he moved to! I remembered his name was David D****.

Wasn't me ;-(

No, I just know the family moved to Warkworth and I do remember seeing the car there not long after I sold it as I had a client up there. I suppose I should just go to the post office and pay for the info.

I know it wasn't you mrfxit - your vehicle wasn't silver!

Socram - I sent you the details via your section advert, although I expect he would have sold the car long ago. I didn't even now him directly, he was a mate of a mate I think.Funny car to be searching for - c'mon you know you want to tell us why!

first car maybe!

Obviously has a thing for English cars in general, so possible I guess.
Or maybe he wants to put a rotary in it ;-)

Thanks for the info extrada.OK, I confess.I imported the car to NZ when I first immigrated in 1983. It was also the first car I ever raced (honestly!) at Pukekohe.I boughtit with 8,000 miles on the clock and had it for several years. It only ever let us down once (a 50c circlip). The Equipe had the Maxi 1750cc Hi-Line motor with twin carbs and for its day, had a very respectable performance, being the best performing 4 cyl car in its class for torque.Being a two door, it was probably a better shell than the 4 door.

Why bring it to NZ!I am well aware of the "worst car ever made" tags but I have driven much, much worse and seen so called better cars dissolve into a pile of rust very quickly. When we first came to NZ, before I left the UK, I read every car ad in the Herald and was horrified at the prices wanted then for cruddy secondhand cars and it was more economcal to bring in a car I knew well, that had been wax sprayed rust treated from new.
Never ever regretted buying it but suspect it is either gathering dust in a shed somewhere, or has been scrapped unofficially.Would just like to know. So, there you have it!Might even buy it back as another project if the price is right.

I immigrated in 77 from UK, but only brought toy cars with me since I was a child :-)
Good luck with tracking it down, hopefully it is still in one piece somewhere.

Brought all the Dinky Toys too. They are probably worth more than an Allegro now.Still have them and still collecting now and again. Will soon be time to sell off a few collections though, as no-one else in the family has my passion for all things automotive, especially memorabilia.
