I don't come from england, spare a thought for the people behind you at the post office, you don't get out much, even in Te Puke I have heard of and used your Toll Road.

He has not heard of the"pay as you use toll road", do you think he is up to date a debit card.

I think he has a point myself, why can't they allow payment by e-transfer. I don't want a credit card and don't feel like investing in a debit card just for the sake of a toll road. Rates and power bills etc can all be paid online, how hard would it be to organise internet banking for the toll road.

i reckon it's a better drive too

Investing in a debit card! How do you normally get cash! Visit the bank every time!

My EFTPOS card isn't much use on the internet and there is no facility to pay with internet banking.

Just keep your wits about you and you should survive the journey alright.

So you'd pay at the kiosk.!
If you don't have internet access or don't want to use your credit card online, use the kiosks or pick up any telephone. Talk about somebody just needing something to bitch about.I bet where your neighbour puts his rubbish bag annoys you too, as does the flight path of the airport that was there before you bought your house, the weather, Christmas, and your aunts curtains.

Half the time the manual kiosks are down - how does that work for people who don't have access to the internet!
I just had a $70 fine for failing to pay for one trip, not sure how it slipped me by.

As above, pick up the phone. Or get a friend to if you are mute or telephonophobic.

i like the fact it gives you a txt number but when you txt you're in an "out of service" area. d'oh!

You do know there is a surcharge of $3.70 incurred per transaction if paying by phone! To me in this day and age of automation that is a ridiculous amount to pay. If the kiosk's are not working (has happened to me twice) and paying by phone is the only other option available then why should the Toll cost 270% more!
smac,
Nov 28, 3:52pm
I don't get the problem."in this day and age of automation" it's not uncommon for a web solution to cost less than a counter or telephone option. You're complaining the web option costs less!
I still don't get what the problem is here. It's one of the few (if not the only) toll road in the world where you can pay after the fact (or before if you so choose), you have multiple payment options including web, kiosk, telephone, prepay account, whereas overseas it's often cash only, and people are STILL finding something to whinge about (although what it is isn't clear).
You guys must be absolutely miserable on a day to day basis. I pity you, seriously.

My point is, 1. they have kiosks that are not reliable, 2. they charge a fee 270% higher than the toll itself if paying by phone, 3. Paying by internet is still not an option available to everyone particularly the ones that are heading north during the holidays for a couple of weeks camping
smac,

Describing the admin fee as a % of the toll in pointless. One is decided based on how long they had to pay the loan back to the govt, the other is based on cost recovery. They don't relate. I don't get the thing about paying when you go for holiday either. You can pre-pay online, and despite what is said above you can pay using an online payment (certainly the major banks), you don't need a credit card. WHAT is the hassle!
theram1,
Nov 28, 5:05pm
I to don't see the problem. You can always take the old road if it is to difficult to pay. This may get you going, When you pay your toll to use the road and you are driving it you are burning fuel which has road tax built in, Maybe you can claim that back. Or at least have a good moan about it.

I do agree somewhat with poster #1 that its a major inconvenience to have to stop and pay at one of the kiosks, when we went through it the first time, not long after it had opened, there was some tents erected with a person you could pay via eftpos or cash, why cant they just charge the whole fee on your car rego next time you pay it or something! would make the whole thing alot easier. Its not the sort of thing i want to have to worry about on my way through on holiday etc. No problem with the jaffas who use it regularly, they just have an account they top up. Bit over top with the 4 day deadline to make payment and the hefty fine if you pay overdue. No problem for the jaffas
