I go through the toll road up north on the weekend. Then I remember as I go through the first of 10 signs warning me about the toll road that I read this story.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/motoring/news/article.cfm!c_id=9&objectid=10848937 Then I see the sign "it is an offence to not pay" So I'm now frantically looking for a sign "How do I pay" - cool another sign says go to www.tollroad.govt.nz - So now I'm going down the hill after passing through the toll road and I'm trying to write down the web address cause yet another sign tells me I have 5 days to pay, which I'm totally going to forget right - after all Im focussing on my destination of beaches and friends and relaxing. But no, I'm now having hot sweats akin to the "midnight express" dude with a very real fear that I will end up in Alcatraz for driving through a toll road.
Bugger me dead if I don't get sprung by a cop with a laser gun doing 115 km ph and fined and demerited.
So now I find out that unless I've got web access to visit tollroad.govt.nz AND I have a credit card I CANT pay. I have now found out that I have to go to the post shop in my OWN time, find a park, stand in the queue of old ladys sending peanut brownies to their aunt in England for Xmas AND pay a fee to pay the fee.
What a complete Balls up that system is. atypical of Government Though.

there are also kiosks at either end which you can stop and pay with actual money with. One is at the BP on the left when heading north, the other is on the left before the tunnel when heading south.
Do you not even have a debit plus card that can act as a credit card over the internet! You obviously have the internet otherwise you wouldn't be posting here.

So you don't know that you need to pay the toll, like you don't know the speed limit. You have to pay to use the road it's been that way since it opened. Pay attention, makes me wonder what road rules you know. You created the mess not the government.

So you weren't paying attention to your driving and didn't plan your journey and want to blame someone else for it! Not like the toll road is a new thing or anything, been heaps of publicity about it. They won't pursue the debt anyway as you haven't racked up enough toll dodging to make it worthwhile, just throw the reminder notice in rubbish.

Government has made the assumption that I have the Internet and or a credit card and or internet banking. As a first time user of the toll road it was all a bit hectic.

I'm not trying to apportion blame to anyone here. It's my FAULT. I'll pay, albeit that I have to pay fee to pay the fee and stand behind all the people sending peanut brownies to their aunt in England. Is that what rarked you into your lecture! We're you one of the people sending your Aunt peanut brownies!

i just pay it with a prepay visa card from the post shop online. anyone with a credit card can also pay it for you online. loaded-card is what i got you can also buy cheap stuff from dealextrem with that card

I know a guy that forgot to pay his $2 road toll. They took him to court and he lost his job, wife, kids and house. A month later he overdosed from injecting 3 marijuanas.

I do, i will never pay tolls, our taxes paid for the tunnels in the first place, why pay again!
