so the guy travelling at 100-105 has to slow to 80 in the left lane, while the truck plodding along at 90 overtakes him and then settles in in front till the next passing lane! I can see that working.

So, how does the truck "plodding" at 90 kph happen to be behind the guy doing 100 - 105 at the start of the passing lane !

Yes it happens. Yes it's annoying. Yes it's rude and inconsiderate.
But really. just do whatever you have to do, to blast past the fukkers.
(Obviously, keep an eye out for cops while you're doing this.)

I remember reading a while ago that this whole speeding up on passing lanes was a Jafa problem, where they subconciously floor it on multilane stretches of roads as it feels like the motorway, so I don't know if that means anything. Either way it is a real pain in the ass; i would LOVE to be able to read the thoughts of drivers who speed up to prevent being passed and find out exactly what is their motivation!

Had a mate with a phobia about being overtaken - couldn't stand it. he's dead now. NO BULL !

On a related note, after my mother's funeral we followed the hearse to the cremation place to say final goodbyes. Obviously we're not going that fast, big tongan guy roars past me, gets inbetween me and the hearse forcing me to drop back then tailgates before proceeding to blast past and turn off a while later.
There are certain exceptions I'll make to the going slow rule, a hearse is one of them. How disrespectful do you have to be to do that! Even I'm not that brash as to gun my V8 past a church or somewhere where such services are held.

Years ago in a seriouse quick Turbo euro I struck a Richard in a V8 statesman who was driving at about 60k on open road and as soon as i hit the indicator to pass him he shifted over till rh wheels to right of centre line.Put up with him for about 10k then timed it right and shot past him on the left.I think he's still changing his grots and who knows how they will ever get that smell out of the brocade seats.Saw a cartoon years ago where a roket launcher was strapped onto the bonnett - Can think of lots of times it would be the answer to the Richards of this world. No offence to any person called Richard Head intended

What about the clowns who think it necessary to pass at all cost BEFORE they get to the passing lane, despite the fact they've just seen the sign stating one is coming up in 400 m! Doesn't matter if there are double yellow lines, blind corners, oncoming traffic - nah, they'll pull out and pass anyway. So dam arrogant and impatient they can't wait a few more seconds for the passing lane.

'keep left unless passing' - why is it so hard for people to understand this rule!

Yip patience went out the window a long time ago.

Because the government took down all the 'Keep Left' signs that were all over our highways, years ago. For some strange reason the government didn't consider them relevant any more.

Got a fine for doing 122 kph a few years ago while overtaking (the cop was on the opposite side of the road). The fact is that I was doing well over 140 kph. So obviously the reading was of the moron I was passing.

It pisses me off when you are in a passing lane in a truck that is limited to 90km/h and people wait till the end before they pass. Had that 3 times alone last night with on coming traffic aswell. Can only move over so far but some people really have to beat that truck.

I know my question will invite Mother Grundies to respond but has the 4 Kph tolerance been retained! It is a valid question in this thread.

Is that so!

I simply get alongside muppets that speed up , sit on the horn & then glare at them . They soon get the message . lol
Equally as frustrating at the moment is the bigger muppets who insist on rocketing past everything in the passing lane at warp speed & then slow back down again & hold me up . This seems to normally be middle aged blokes in V8's who must have small willy syndrome . Very frustrating when I've had the cruise control set so have most definately not sped up in pasing lane to have one these clowns warp past me & then brake at end of passing lane holding me up

Has gone now that it is March but I have a feeling speed camera vans use the 4 kph tolerance but not 100% on that.
