NZTA won't want them here no matter how safe VW claim they are, and even if they do make it you sure as hell won't be buying one through VW agent for that price.

$600, I see whole new affordable race series happening.

Good idea if it gets people out of full sized, less economical but a bad idea if it gets people out of buses, trains and off bicycles because we need less cars on the roads, not more.

If that really sells for $600, then it shows how much of a mark up is on a 700 gram carbon fibre bicyle frame that can sell for well over $10,000.
I guess VW is expecting to sell a lot of them.
I wouldn't buy one in NZ, they would be too easy to steal! Someone would come and lift it onto the back of a ute and drive off.

gunhand, Jul 4, 10:24am
Would have to be as practical joke though, surely no one would actually want one, or be seen in one? God, imagine telling ya mates you drive something as desirable as a hemorrhoid. Mind you you wouldn't have any mates, so no probs. carry on.
Looks like it's rear wheel drive, so that will appeal to those who want a "real" car or a "drivers" car.

Hmm good point, could be useful for broken down Amarok owners as a get-you-home perhaps? They could make it an optional extra to leave on the tray for when the inevitable happens.

Kinda reminds me of this:

tub4, Jul 4, 11:50pm
Can't imagine the load capacity of the wee VW would be enough to do very much at all

Brilliant , vast majority of car transport is commuting mostly in built up areas & 1 person in it . . This is all they need , not a dirty great big remuera tractor . Enough room for Mrs to put the shopping in too . About time a car co had the guts to mass produce a true micro car. Govt should exempt it from RUC for first 3 years .
