Why are EVs so ugly?

I saw a newish holden with an inflated but to match the driver, if you like that sort of thing.

and a front like some demented toyota.

it was short to, got that going on, got that going on.

naw fuggly as hell mate.

Jag have had good sales with the I-Pace and are thinking about an electric F-type because of this. Not that I'd be able to afford one, anyway.

poppy62, Jun 24, 12:48am
Mercedes EQA/EQB & EQC are good looking EVs.

gunna-1, Jun 24, 1:06am
Someone left the pump on in the back again, the frount is mildly better than the rest, not as overdone as some.

True, however even in subjective assessment you can make a statement about generally held and agreed upon norms, setting the popular standard as it were, for whats its worth (bugger all). I.E the Prius is an ugly utilitarian lump of poo as any right thinking induvial can see.

A vinyl roof and fins plus chrome and they’d have a winner!

lakeview3, Jun 24, 6:41am
oh the Austin princess! Good grief that was an ugly car and worse still came in all shades of baby poo brown!

Didn’t they also have the cream vinyl roof? 🤣🤣🤣

lakeview3, Jun 24, 6:42am
an ‘Olden….

poppy62, Jun 24, 6:53am
Hah! and you're throwing stones at the glass houses of EV owners. That's a "Juke" in itself!

poppy62, Jun 24, 6:55am
Looks the same as most other cars from the drivers seat.

lakeview3, Jun 24, 7:04am
not my old donk…. it’s just a car, not pretty, not ugly, just incredibly functional. Not an assault on my eyes like those ‘futuristic’ EV mutations!

cjohnw, Jun 24, 7:41am
My context in saying it is subjective is that:
I do not give a monkey’s what anyone else thinks of how my car looks.
As long as I am happy with it then that is all that matters to me.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

probably one of the better looking ones.

I saw a Toyota Rav EV yesterday. Not tooooo bad.

lakeview3, Jun 24, 5:08pm
yeah I am the same. It’s just a hunk of metal getting you from a to be and no one gives a rats when they open their door into it and ding it. If you drive an older car then you are less precious about the door ding gnomes, because let’s face it, no matter how careful you are, no matter how far away you park at the supermarket to avoid other people, some numpty who obviously has trouble parking, parks right next to you because they were seemingly unable to guide their car into a park that didn’t have a another car next to it to guide them! 🤣🤣🤣

The hyundai ioniq 5 is "interesting" I think it would be a love/hate car. Probably one you need to see in person to decide. The interior design seems pretty amazing though.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder NOT universally true as there are certain dimensional ratios etc that appeal to a wide range of the population like breast, waist, hip ratios in women that appeal to men.

cjohnw, Jun 24, 8:41pm
Although I am totally heterosexual, I do not think you can make that generalisation anymore.
It is, after all, a rainbow world now.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Our friends have got a Nissan Leaf, in the metallic light blue, with the optional mags that have blue bits in them. It's a pretty flash looking little town car, I'd own one, for curb appeal alone it puts a Corolla or Mazda 3 of the same age to shame.

Our V6 Toyota Estima is not really a thing of beauty either, but it has one job to do and it does that job well, there's a certain beauty in that too.

I think a lot of people are just so bent out of shape at the whole idea that electric cars exist, they will jump on anything. Hence that video of the electric BMW on fire that gets posted up about 20 times a week. Maybe I should have videoed the Audi A4 2.0 litre I saw burn to the ground last summer?

pattym1, Jun 24, 10:27pm
not an EV but on the subject of fugly cars - Following a brown Suzuki Ignis the other day. the poo emoji made real.

slarty45, Jun 24, 10:37pm
Looks good from the front but crap from the rear

intrade, Jun 25, 12:10am
its because only 1 shape will meet CV values. plus frontal impact standard rules means they all have to look about the same

You seemed to have missed this bit "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder NOT universally true as there are certain dimensional ratios etc that appeal to a wide range of the population".
Even Gay guys will see beauty in a woman just like we know what a good looking man (I'm looking at you in the mirror. ) looks like.

lythande1, Jun 25, 1:38am
Um no. They could look just like the other new release cars.

cjohnw, Jun 25, 1:46am
You seemed to have missed my point that some women can see the beauty in a woman, but you seem to be fixated on men.
Lol.
