Saw a Mitsubishi Eclipse today

U-G-L-Y

Why do they do that thing with the back windows?

Also the Prius and Leaf - U-G-L-Y

tamarillo, Jun 23, 6:12am
Agreed though lots of petrol small SUVs look just as bad.

stevo2, Jun 23, 6:54am
Gotta admit that the Europeans (especially the Italians - excluding Fiat) design better looking cars than most Asians

absolute_detail, Jun 23, 6:55am
Vw Golf E looks just like a Golf

buyit59, Jun 23, 6:56am
Never seen a Renault 16 huh ?.

bitsnpieces2020, Jun 23, 6:59am
Nissan Joke is worst I've ever seen.

lakeview3, Jun 23, 7:00am
agreed….French cars are soooo UGLY! Never seen a good one.

Mind you the Fiat Multipla wins the award for ugliest EVER! Apart from that slip up, the Italians have done TOO badly. (Oh hang on the Chroma was ugly as well lol)

lakeview3, Jun 23, 7:10am
Anyone seen a Toyota Will?

UGLY!

lakeview3, Jun 23, 7:10am
you mean Juke? Yeah they should have called it Joke for sure!

nice_lady, Jun 23, 7:15am
The ordinary Jukes have a resemblance to a warthog !

trogedon, Jun 23, 7:29am
It's supposed to be or at least quirky besides it's not an EV so not relevant here.

toenail, Jun 23, 7:50am
If you want something pretty, go pay for it. Budget $$ gives you budget looks.

Audi E-Tron GT looks fantastic.

meow_mix, Jun 23, 8:23am
Why are EVs so ugly? Because they have to look futuristic. The global auto industry is still caught in an era of 1990s styling, but with glitzier lights. So anything from a BMW 3-series to a Toyota Whatever still has dated styling today. So electric cars like the Nissan Leaf look very modern and futuristic.

And the thing with the back windows? Currently there is a fashion to mess around with the rear C-pillars and also sometimes paint the roof and pillars black. I think Audi started this. But it is a win for the auto makers because they can make the bodyshell cheaper be having the roof as a seperate section and weld it onto the main body and then hide the welds in the funky pillars and roof.

Seen a new Yaris cross the front is horrid

ronaldo8, Jun 23, 9:22am
The Prius is an affront to the eyes. For crimes against aesthetics it needs to be taken out the back and beaten to scrap, or that someone already tried but it managed to get away after the first couple of blows.

The modern day Austin Princess, without any of the quirk.

gunna-1, Jun 23, 9:53am
The 90s styleing was horrible and made the futuristic 80s cars look palatable, with garbege like pop up headlights, then they out did themselfs again and made 90s cars look palatable, now when i need a laugh i look at the utter s#!t they came up with in 2018 2019 2020 2021 and it leaves my sides splitting, but finding anything to drive now is a right bloody hassle.

gunna-1, Jun 23, 10:01am
Reading something about old cars from the 60s they caused a stir because people didnt want to "impress the neighbours" can you imagen that now? so they mixed conservative styleing with the modern body shells, and it turned out to be a real pearler, now it should be how not to bloody depress your neighbour, with these over baked, transformer toy looking things.

redhead18, Jun 23, 10:08am
Seen this one at the lights the other day.
LOL@ the plate.

That thing is shaped like a giant plastic iron from briscoes.

trogedon, Jun 24, 12:04am
I've had two cars with pop up lights - Mazda Astina, Porsche 944. They looked great.

loose.unit8, Jun 24, 12:08am
Which ones look futuristic?

poppy62, Jun 24, 12:20am
What award winning shape car/clone do you drive?

loose.unit8, Jun 24, 12:26am
Teslas are probably the best looking EV at the moment but they look so mild and boring. At least they aren't ugly, I guess.

gunna-1, Jun 24, 12:26am
My last one was the billy grunta, poorly built 70s era stuff, still better by a mile.

cjohnw, Jun 24, 12:37am
Looks are subjective.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
