Why are EVs so ugly?

Absolutely.
Couldn't agree more.
Doesn't change the fact that its widely agreed to be ugly though by 9 out of 10 art students wearing lab coats whom I happen to agree with.

EVs are so ugly because manufacturers really don't want you to buy one, because they are very intelligent and employ some of the best engineers in the world, they know EV won't cut it both in cost and efficiency with pollution as a government wish list but not the wish of consumers. They are very aware of the limits for electrical storage and the ease of exploding a natural mineral from under the ground to make energy cheaply

ugly because the govt grants did not extend to exterior design.

Second that, an eclipse is not even an EV it's a hybrid.

Ugly? Less risk of being nicked then.

cjohnw, Jun 26, 3:55am
Hey mate, did you make a decision?

houseofdad, Jun 26, 8:34pm
Nah mate, caught between a phev but then you'll have to do sparkplugs and oil changers etc again or go EV and have range anxiety.
Leaning towards a Tesla 3 if anything. Mitsubishi PHEV Outlander would be handy.

If they use a cardbord box for the shape of the shell and trace some headlights out of a couple of large cups they would look alright, they are over designed monstrosities, simplicity is best, the round taillights on some 60s and 70s cars were funky as, its ego centric designers that are the issue, makeing an ugly mess of them.

I can say, having done the research the Tesla Model 3 is probably the best value at the moment and really worth considering if it suits your lifestyle.
I would predict that Hyundai and Kia may well drop the price of the Kona and Niro once the Ioniq5 and EV6 arrive.
Hard to see Hyundai having two entry level full electric vehicles at the same price.
Really need a crystal ball huh?

I wouldn't buy any new PHEV without a dealer putting in writing the battery replacement cost.

nice_lady, Jul 3, 5:47am
I guess even now the best thing to do at time of purchase of to get the dealer to state the FULL battery replacement cost in writing?

Good luck with that.

cjohnw, Jul 17, 8:01am
Given that battery warranties are on average about 8 - 10 years and most batteries will give servicibility well beyond that, how is anyone able to predict when a battery might fail and what the replacement cost might be?
Oh wait, crystal ball right?
How long will your cam belt last?
