Shouldn't it read "Plastic Camaro body to join Supercars grid in 2022" !

poppy62, Oct 15, 7:32pm
So it'll now be Ford USA V GM USA rather than Oz Ford V Oz GM. Will it mean that the rest of the world will be able to enter the field as there are now no Oz cars.

smallwoods, Oct 15, 7:46pm
Umm, has been Nissan, Volvo and a few others over time.

tgray, Oct 15, 9:00pm
I'm surprised at this because I was convinced Camaro's were going to be withdrawn from production after the current model.

mopeds, Oct 15, 9:13pm
They should field the mid engine corvette.

sr2, Oct 15, 9:16pm
That would be different but I suspect a plastic version of the body would not fit over the std. supercar front engine chassis & running gear?

likit, Oct 15, 10:26pm
Boringggggggggg

likit, Oct 15, 10:28pm
They have always been able to join as long as it’s a V8 NA 5 litre, Mercedes, Nissan & Volvo for example.

bill-robinson, Oct 16, 7:33am
they will be great at bathurst, 15 second battery changes

bill-robinson, Oct 16, 2:36pm
takes a long time to make a plastic pig fit an existing chassis.

sr2, Oct 16, 3:39pm
LOL, they possibly should have spent more time on the Mustang!

serf407, Oct 16, 6:14pm
The gen 3 chassis are smaller. Some things carry over, others do not.

Supercars use the term "manufacturer model silhouettes" to describe the smashy bits.

bill-robinson, Oct 16, 6:50pm
plastic piglets then
fancy words which translate to plastic bits.

3tomany, Oct 17, 10:01am
It most probably is. I guess GM are in the start up phase of rebranding their cars for a full on return in the coming years.

mber2, Oct 17, 9:58pm
they already have Chev in the supercars. The Holdens run Chev 350's or they might be bigger but Chev engines

gman35, Oct 19, 5:30pm
If they look as stupid as the "Mustang" does then don't bother. All this Control stuff is rubbish. Why bother having different brands at all ?

socram, Oct 19, 7:26pm
Exactly. May as well switch to the GT's anyway. Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, Bentley, Viper - maybe even Mustang and Camaro etc.

The GT racing often looks to be pretty close, despite the variation in makes - and they can always apply some form of handicap if required.

GT racing in Australia is not going to flourish in Australia if it keeps getting cancelled.
2021 Bathurst 12 Hour called off.
https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/10/19/bathurst-12-hour-called-off-for-2021/ The brand new GT3 cars are 'very wealthy gentleman racer' 300K to 700K euro machines. There is GT4 at a lower price.

Supercars need to take more cost out of their spaceframes and plastics too. The engine costs are silly.
