Difference between the white and the red car

Comparing the photos of the white car and the red car one might think they were different incidents. Considering that the force on both would be equal,

But the white car might be a modern design with decent crash protection and the red one might be an old heap. ?

The red car was "OBVIOUSLY" speeding.

The picture of the red car in the herald picture is of the engine and transmission. The rest of the red car has stood up as well as the white one.

Imo often its the "luck" of the draw. The angle, speed and position of impact

You what?
The chunks of the red car are in fact the right rear door, rear quarter cut and the rear suspension. From the best part of 20 odd years dealing in crashes I would say the Subaru hit the red car just behind the driver's "b" pillar. Very messy

Thanks for the link. The NZ Herald pics were misleading. It gave the impression the red car was reduced to that heap of metal.

All of the arguments about speed limits and the rights and wrongs of enforcement seem so worthless, when the subject turns to dead babies.

Take it easy out there! What race are you winning anyway. ?

What astonishes me is that it happened on an almost straight piece of two lane with no visible intersection, yet the white car hit the red one side on? How did the red car end up sideways on the wrong side of the road - there are no apparent skid marks to indicate a loss of control on the part of either driver

Could also be possible they were travelling the same direction, and the red car had pulled left then attempted a U turn in front of the white car.
Saw something very similar on motorway patrol where a car was indicating to turn right, the bus driver behind assumed they were indicating for him to pass, so he went to overtake as they turned.
That is why indicating for someone to pass is a bad habit.

How do you work that out.
Looks like the red car cut the corner.

purple666, May 13, 11:00am
Worst damage to the red car and we all "know" that the faster go the bigger the mess. Maybe you don't believe what the wallopers say?
