Hmmmmm,maybe you're right.
It does open and close as I took it out and tested it in a cup of hot water, then cold and repeated. But yeah, I don't actually know at what temperature it opens/closes, do I. By the way the "hill" I'm talking about is the Takaka Hill, and I wouldn't have attempted going over there before doing this work.

You can if you have a thermometer, but, for a sake of $20 odd, you might as well replace it.

Thanks mugenb20b, you're absolutely right, and I will do just that. Won't be in the next few weeks though, but I will report back if it has made any difference.
