I did my place in marine enamel extrawler , i aquired 20 litres of pale green & sprayed straight on tofobrolite,,10 years its still on , no peeling but lost its gloss .

In one of the paint shops I worked in, the guys were too lazy to wash the coffee cups, so just gave the mugs a once over with enamel!

Everyone knows to use heavy grade cutting compound on the coffee cups, a bit of scotchbrite works too.

I know an ex TV personality who hates guns that painted his house in "TV Set" paint that he somehow aquired, Looked a million dollars too until the 1st decent bout of rain arrived and washed it all off, Laughing stock of the neighbourhood he was too and probably still is
