1. Are the fans kicking in and out!
2. Are all the water hoses hot (top, bottom and heater)!

van78, Dec 28, 8:02am
yeah the fans are going, hoses are hot and no the heater doesn't go

morrisman1, Dec 28, 8:03am
take the belt off the water pump and see if it has a bad bearing. On our stellar which has the same engine I think it had a crook bearing and that meant that the angle of the impeller was such that the water stopped pumping.

van78, Dec 28, 8:05am
Thanks Morrisman1 will give that a try

mugenb20b, Dec 28, 8:06am
1. Was there any signs of rust or corrosion in the coolant when you changed the thermostat!
2. When the fans kick in and out, does the whole radiator core feel hot!

van78, Dec 28, 8:11am
the water was red so thinking that may be a sign of rust! yes the whole radiator feels hot

msigg, Dec 28, 8:30am
circulation no good why is the heater not going! thermostat shut stuck ! blocked raidiator, water pump

jenny188, Dec 28, 8:31am
Blown head gasket or worn ringsas well as any or all of the above, cracked head, or if getting close to 250,000 kilometers just worn out.

change your radiator cap, look at your oil filler cap, on the underneath side for water in oil, test your themostat, or leave it out.,use antifreeze to raise the boiling temp, use motorup in oil too,but most important, is there strong circulation of water movement in the raidator,as the water pump could be issue, but dodgy raidtor cap could slip under the rader, and right pressure, and dodgy workshops play silly buggers with cars too

^^^^^^^^^^ OP, please ignore these comments.

gadgit3, Dec 28, 11:43pm
Agreed^^. Leaving out the thermostat can cause alot more overheat issues with a bypass type system.
Motorup is a complete waist of money

richard198, Dec 29, 6:24am
How do you know/think it is overheating!
You haven't given any symptoms yet!

johnf_456, Dec 29, 6:26am
I agree totally
