if its got a vacumn fuel tap dont trust it, i had a GS750 yrs ago did same thing, cant be healthy riding around with a crankcase full of petrol vapour! waiting to blow up, lol

Changing oil on a Suzuki Trojan 200cc farm bike, I noticed too much oil and a smell of petrol in the oil, what could cause that ! The bike has only been used recently for short runs.

Sounds like carb overflowing into the cylinder, and from there past the rings into the oil.
Check floats not perished, check overflow drain not blocked, depending on carb design there could be o-rings in there that need replacing.
Oh, and change the oil.

pretty standard issue, usually crap under float valve and or o-ring worn on float valve assy

thanks very much for that, it is a new, second hand bike for me so first thing i changed the oil, its how i find out. I will have to check the carb.
