Is a VN and VP Commy ECU the same for 3.8 and auto

Just bought a VP 3.8 and auto for the van but it is missing the ECU, its a series two eng, just wondering if I can use a VN computer. The loom has been hacked too so I will have to get one of them as well. Cheers

The ECU will not be the same the VN transmission is a 700-R and the VR has an electronic model. so the transmissions are different, the VR transmission is connected to the ECU but I dont think the VN one is. It might get the motor going but I dont think it will perform to well.

No. the motor I have came from a VP and it has the TH700 trans not the later one so it all looks the same as the VN but with just a few changes.

Nah it wont, there were changes made to the way the injectors fire (3 sets of two, rather than 2 sets of 3, i think) between the early V6 and the series 2 (VP-onwards).
