ok guys,my van nz new has had a problem for a while was intermittent for about 6 months, and now last month it has failed totally. from the drivers door dosnt unlock, but locks all doors fine. one of my sliding doors has a broken catch, its unhooked from the system but it has been like that a couple of years,so nothing to do with that. cheers

What doesn't it unlock from! The switch on the door, or the lock!

Same van 96 Hiace, same problem but it's only 1 of the sliding doors that wont lock or unlock from drivers door, unlocks and lock fine individually. Is it a auto electrician job or mechanic! (as long as it's not me, nothing will work if I fiddle with it, I need to stick to bits of wood)

Auto sparky job. Master switch sounds faulty

Yours is easy, clean this on the door: http://www.dynatron.co.nz/item_universal-van-sliding-door-switch_5744

Failing that, it's most likely the locking motor in the door.

And none of the doors work!

Check the fuse, from memory, it could be in the middle of the footwell.

Also, take off the door card, check the rods are still connected to the mechanisms.

Another point to check is the central locking motor in the door.

Quite hard to give you a definite answer without having a look myself.
