am after any recommendations for getting rid of odor in the interior of my car which I have recently purchased (new import from japan). By the smell of it, someone smoked like a chimney in there.
Has anyone tired the meguiars odor eliminator! (it's rather expensive so i don't want to buy it if it isn't going to make a difference.)

smellys is not the answer you need to put the hard work in and physically clean as much as you can. Or get a car groomer to do it for you, they know all the tricks of the trade.

if you bought it off a dealer get them to do the job why should you,

I used some spray type deodoriser stuff from super cheap on all fabric surfaces and left trays of baking powder (or soda! can't remember) under the seats.I definitely didn't want some cloying smellies 'masking' the small as they make me gag.
Worked after a few days.

Stripping out the interior and scrubbing parts individually works, rather time consuming though

I have tired cleaning the whole interior with upholstery cleaner but it hasn't made much difference.
