My FIL needs a car that the passenger front seat folds right down level ( his wife is an invalid ). He would prefer 1.6 / 1.8 litre engine. Has anyone got experience of makes / models that have this facility! Many thanks.

altezza gita does just that. (altezza wagon) has a kinda 'table' surface on the back side of it
available in 2 litre or 3. the 2 litre is quite economical, the 3 litre not so much

Fiat Multipla, Also one of the cheapest cars to run that you can buy (diesel version) and the 1.6 litre petrol is a great engine too.
You can also completely remove any or all of the back seats leaving a flat floor if you need.
They are great value to buy, parts are cheap and they are easy to maintain and super reliable. Visibility is excellent and they are very easy to park and manoeuvre in traffic.
Also, the back of the seat is "quick release" so you can fold it down flat or up again really quickly without hassle.
The seats in the rear also fold completely flatif it was preferable to put her in the back at any time, you can also set it up so the front seat and back seat are flat at the same time giving you a complete bed if need be.
