How-to export car to China?

russ6, Jun 20, 9:31pm
Used cars in Beijing about 3 times our price. import from NZ. Is that a possible option! Shanghai is the closest port. Thanks folks

do you realy think that will be true! if that was the case then not 1 car would make it as used inport to nz from japan they would all be shipped to china for more money then we pay.

They have quite a protectionist market though which locks out second hand Japanese imports.

I think there are exceptions for personal imports similar to here though, if you have owned the car in this country for a certain amount of time you are allowed to import it for personal use (but probably not sell it for a while).

China drives on the right!

They are trying to control the number of new cars that hit the road in Beijing. There were about 20,000 a week! So, if you want a new car, you must enter a 'lottery' with the prizes being "allowed to buy a new car". This of course ramps up the used car prices somewhat. Thanks for the personal import thought vtec. Sounds like NZ/Aussie in the 50's/60's even 70's.

Left side. We got a few left hooks around NZ and they are generally cheaper as well. It all sounds too hard but you never know on this forum. Someone might have been there done that.
