Deregistering Car

put it on hold. You will need to back pay the 8 months rego. When de-registering the car, you would still need to pay the 8 months of rego anyhow, and then you would be up for a much higher cost to get it back on the road.

Definately put it on hold. Do not deregister it if you hope to put it back on road. Once deregistered, plates are dead and cost to get car back on road can be prohibitively expensive (especially for lower value vehicles) and the re-compliance check is a real huge pain in the a.

Hold IMHO

next time put it on hold within 2 month of rego expiry you will have to pay backrego to put on hold , and if you dont then the cost is just getting higher and after 12 month it will automatic deregister and the bill for 12 month rego will be demanded and no payment still will be a knock from baycorp on your door to collect the money still.

within 2 month the cost to put on hold is 0$ it can even all be done online with your or anyones driver license number 2 month and 1 day and a fee has to be paid to put on hold.Always put on hold 12 month no matter if you want to use it in 4 month time again as it wont matter you can still do that the hold period is 3 month minimum after this it comes off hold when you buy a license you dont have to wait 12 month but it be on hold still if you happen to not being able to put it back on the road after 4 month. like this.

Put it On HOLD ! this will still leave your option of selling it easier (if you loose interest in getting it back on the road!)

Look at the A class registration offered. This is $80 per year and is for a car being worked on. You don't need a WOF for this and can take the car between home and workshop to have work done. This could be backdated to the time the current rego ran out and is cheaper. I have used this so know it is possible. Cheers
